  1. And then cold turkey? That must have been traumatic.
  2. Jerry was there for his birth and breast fed him for the first week.
  3. i would do it for both of them in a heart beat.
  4. He should take all the time he needs.
  5. Useless for Fantasy purposes as well.
  6. Pretty much this is kimmi's position for any roster. I don't ascribe to that for all rosters, but for this team, they look pretty interchangeable.
  7. He has to bond with the newborn infant for 3 days or studies show that the child is much more likely to grow up to be a spree killer.
  8. And I just said that it doesn't matter who bats where in this lineup. I wouldn't lead off with one of our catchers. Any order we put out there will produce plenty of runs.
  9. It is meaningless. Why try to explain the meaningless?
  10. Wow! Good memory. I thought I could remember everyone from that era, but you got me on him. My next guess was going to be Mike Fiore.
  11. Do you remember an approximate year? I remember Doug Griffin getting a terrible beaning from Nolan Ryan and he was never the same. He definitely wasn't Italian, so you are probably thinking of someone else.
  12. I don't know much about Basketball, but Stephen Curry seems to be the consensus best player. From the little that I have seen from him, he is on another planet. He makes great players like Westbrook look like second tier.
  13. He held the bat like Yaz and one time he hit 3 Homers in a game. He told a funny story about eating dinner with Yaz. He used to love eating with Yaz when he took the collar. Yaz would order chicken, steak and pork chops and then he would just pick at one of them because he would be so upset about his hitting. LaHoud didn't make much money and like to pocket his meal money. He would just order a salad and then feast on everything that Yaz didn't eat.
  14. That was 2003 Pedro who was already a shadow of himself. 1998-99 Pedro has the Babe screwing himself into the ground and making a big breeze fanning. 2003 Pedro drills him in the ass. He doesn't let him beat him. Pedro got beat because a roided up Giambi got him twice in 2003. Post PED Giambi who lost 25 lbs of muscle in the 2003 off season has no chance against Pedro.
  15. And Rick Miller too. He was the best of them all. He just couldn't hit enough to play everyday on those clubs.
  16. When Dewey first came up at the end of '72 I think, we still had Reggie Smith, Tommy Harper, Ben Olgivie and Yaz had to play first base. It was hard to make an impression with those guys out there.
  17. Rice had much better speed than some people remember. He wasn't graceful, but he got the job done at Fenway and on the road. He handled the spacious LF in Yankee Stadium just fine.
  18. Tartabull to Elston Howard to get Ken Berry at the plate. Howard had to leap for the throw.
  19. Betts does have tools that Evans didn't have. That is true, but Evans was phenomenal defensively from the start. He could run, chase down flies and he had a howitzer for an arm. He didn't develop into a great RFer. That was his reputation from the beginning. Betts can chase flies and is an excellent OFer, but the arm is just not there to compare to Dewey. He has a second baseman's arm.
  20. In the words of Pedro, "Dig up the Babe. I'll drill him in the ass."
  21. Rice became a excellent outfielder. And yes he did suffer from comparisons to Yaz.
  22. My recollection is that Evans suffered a severe beaning early on in his career that effected him for a while. Evans was a far superior outfielder to Betts. Betts is not even in the same zip code as Evans.
  23. That group of outfielders played together through 1977. Check out their 1977 numbers..
  24. The Red Sox have to hope that the human donut works hard to get back to where he can compete for a starting job. It is the only chance that they have to squeeze any value out of his contract.
  25. Our offense and the order of our lineup is not a problem (even if we picked the names out of a hat). It is the pitching stupid.
