  1. The Padres have the 3rd lowest OBP in the league. I guess they can use him too.
  2. If this is a selective enforcement of the rule, the Red Sox would have a great shot at getting the penalty and 1 year ban over-turned by an arbitrator. Until I see some evidence that other organizations exceeded the limits in this way, I have to think the Sox were the only team that exceeded the prescribed limits. Other organizations may have bundled the prospects, but still not have exceeded the limits even if they were unbundled.
  3. I am retired now, but it would be a fun second career. LOL!! I am still only 57 and look years younger than the cadaverous JH.
  4. Maybe no one else did it. Do you think that MLB would selectively enforce this rule? I don't.
  5. I'd give it a shot. I am pretty capable. I was the lead attorney on a Pension Plan worth more than the Red Sox.
  6. this is a prime example of why I don't have a high opinion of baseball management and consider them to be overpaid suits that couldn't run a candy store in Brooklyn.
  7. So it wasn't innocent incompetence. It was conniving stupidity. I wonder where this lesson is in Ben's syllabus.
  8. It looks that way. I am interested in getting MVP's view of this since he is CPA. Do we have any Finance people on TalkSox?
  9. And more of his incompetence is revealed. MVP, you are a CPA. Does this seem like it was more than a gross mismanagement of budget?
  10. The verdict is in. I know that MVP already posted a tweet on this. Here is a report on the International Signing ban for 1 Year. Plus, last year's signings are voided. Of course, one or more of them will go on to super stardom with another organization. It seems that we just went over budget. If so, that is really delinquent -- organizational incompetence. Who screwed this up last year? BC or DD?
  11. I don't understand the reluctance by some to expend prospects to bollster our pitching staff. The FO should have certain untouchables-- maybe Moncada, Benintendi and Epinoza, but everyone of our prospects is not going to make it. We have young cost controlled stars in 2 OF positions, so there really isn't a path for more than 1 OF prospect to make the big team We have a very young All Star SS-- there is no path at SS Shaw is young, cost controlled and solid, plus we have 3 years of Panda on the DL -- no great need to find a path at 3rd Pedroia is under a long term contract so there is no immediate path there Vasquez is the catcher of the future -- Swihart looks to be blocked at catcher and he is not our best OF prospect. Other than first base, one outfield position and DH we have a very young solid core at the MLB level already. We need pitching. Many in our current group of prospects will not get to Fenway-- so why not maximize their value to the Red Sox by getting some pitching? I don't see it at selling the future. The future is here. It is XB, Betts, Bradley, Vasquez, and Shaw. Benintendi, Moncada, Devers and Swihart are not all going to make it unless one or more of the core guys is traded. My betting is that only 2 of them will have significant Red Sox careers. Moncada is the sure bet. The rest are in the same boat.
  12. And around we go in the circle.
  13. Because people whined for an ace and DD got the best one available.
  14. Has this become an issue in your marriage. To this day (and my kids ar 30 and 28), my wife gives me a dirty look if they use foul language. At least it is not Sweet Caroline.
  15. Sweet Caroline? luckily, I don't know your address or I would call Child Protective Services.
  16. And your point about Price is?
  17. It was impossible to get near the place.
  18. The huge hands that did the finger roll.
  19. Oooh that is cold. My wife's uncle worked there as a second job for about 25 years. They were friends for many years. Second jobs-- something from the past. Most people don't have or want a single job today.
  20. Oye. You have one note.
  21. WE get your point. You are crossing the line into goofiness.
  22. We already don't have a #5. If we take Buch out of the rotation, we will have 2 empty spots. Spahn and Sain and pray for rain.
