  1. There was no better ace available in FA this past off season and we got him and people are all over the guy 3 months into his contract. I don't get it. Were we supposed to ride out the last place finishes with what we had?
  2. We need to win tonight. Buch goes tomorrow. Go Red Sox!!
  3. Don't we have enough bean-counters to keep track of this stuff?
  4. Hey Babe did you know L&B Spumoni Gardens in Bensonhurst? MVP knows it. It was just in the news that the owner got shot and killed tonight in his backyard. WTH!
  5. So, you were early 80's -- Chris Mullin was 4 years behind me. There was no Basketball program before Mullin and McCready. The Clippers were always doormats until then. The baseball program was pretty good. Best guy from my year was Paul Maruffi. My friends older brother played against Jabbar (then Alcindor) from Power Memorial when Xaverian first opened. Legend was that Jabbar would get a rebound and take it the all the way to the other end to score. He could have beat most teams just by himself.
  6. He looks like he went over a cliff. There is no need to rush him back. let's see how he does on a rehab assignment and let hime stay there for te maximum period to delay the decision on the other 2 guys.
  7. Yes, the 80's --- that is when the standards declined precipitously. Did you have Donnelly? Was McCartney still there? Verde? What did you do after Xaverian without giving out identifying information?
  8. LOL!! Touche for douche. But my wife went there. What year did you graduate? I guess that we had a few kids from Red Hook who were admitted because their mommies cried to the principal about how their sons were getting bullied in Red Hook. Brother Warren was always merciful like that.
  9. you lost me. Acquiring personnel is one of management's main functions. I don't expect that they will just snap their fingers. I just hope that they do their jobs well. I certainly hope they do more than lecture Price about pitching better.
  10. If Price gives us 200 innings we don't need him to win CY Young to be a good team. We need to replace the parts of the rotation that can't fix themselves. As you said, Price can pitch better, and i believe that he will. He is not going to lower his season ERA to under 2, but he will get it under 4 and that will be good enough if we get some solutions on the back end of the rotation. I have identified a problem that can be fixed with a personnel change. That is within the control of the team management. Getting a player to play better is not in the control of the team management. That is why it is a specious solution. Let's agree to disagree. You think the solution is Price pitching better. I think you will get your wish, and I don't think it will make a difference unless my issue is addressed.
  11. We had no money to pay someone to shovel our driveway. That is why my parents had me and my brothers.
  12. Red Hook, now that was a slum. Us Bay Ridge boys didn't go there.
  13. It was in decline in the 1950's, but that area around Prospect Park was not a slum until the Dodgers moved and the Ebbett's Field houses opened. Even then it was not a slum like the South Bronx. Us Xaverian boys used to go to Grand Army Plaza Library right near the park to do our research papers. We didn't need to arm ourselves. No one went to the South Bronx from outside that neighborhood in the 70's. What year did you graduate Babe? And I will bet that I did much better than you grade-wise.
  14. When did I mention my alama mater here? Are you stalking me? LOL! It is my alma mater. And he does remind me of the douchey Yankee fans that attended there.
  15. The tweeting remark was snark on my part, but your solution that Price needs to pitch better is specious at best. Why not just tell Buch or the random #5 to pitch better? Is that a solution? No. Neither is it a solution to say that Price has to pitch better. Price is probably working on that and I am pretty confident that he will get better. I have no such confidence in Buch or random #5. They need to be replaced.
  16. I'll repeat my thought on this. Price pitching like Cy Young cannot save this rotation. As far as buying DD some time, DD put himself in this position. Plus, I think if Price was pitching lights out, the FO would continue to think they were on the right track. I don't think they would feel the need to fix anything. And they would be mistaken, imo.
  17. Okay, we get it. you think it is all the fault of Price. Had Price been Price, we would be the Cubs. I disagree. Even if Price pitches like a Cy Young, the 4th and 5th spots will sink this team if not fixed.
  18. You blamed the offense last year for the Red Sox not being in first place at the ASB. No hyperbole there. No need to debate it either as you were completely wrong. As for your criticism of Price, it speaks for itself loudly in contrast to your defense of Buch. No hyperbole there either. Just reading what you write.
  19. And that is going to fix the #4 and 5 spots? I have already stated that even if Price pitches to his 2015 numbers, this team is doomed if the 4th and 5th spots do not get fixed. No playoffs, maybe not even .500 ball. So I disagree with your solution.
  20. Oh, okay. Tweet him about that.
  21. And your solution is?
  22. Price will be fine, and it will not matter if he pitches to last year's numbers if the 4th and 5th slots are not fixed. That is my point and I stand by it -- just as I stood by my point last year that the problem was the pitching and not an offensive slump in May.
