    The guy is having a great season by any measure. And I maintain that when healthy and producing, the Red Sox win. One of the problems in our last place seasons is that we have not seen enough of vintage Pedey.

    I don't expect him to hit .400 for the remainder of the season. .260 with a .325 OBP would be just fine to keep him as a starter.

    I am rooting for him. I don't think it has ever been done before. I do remember the Red Sox giving Ted Wiliams' kid (John Henry) a tryout at age 36. Then tragically he got cancer and died shortly thereafter.

    iortiz is an excellent betting man. Last year, he cleaned up on that bet. This year he did not make many bets on this.

    Yep, he is slower now, but I'd rather have him on the bases than Travis Shaw, or Leon or Hanigan. And no I don,t agree that he is the 9th worst base runner in baseball. Fangraphs is off on this.

    I don't think we will be selling low on him. He has performed well. He just got injured. If his ankle heals well, he should still have good trade value. He isn't going to learn to catch in AAA if Vasquez is there.

    I was very accurate for a while. YOTN can confirm that there were several Dutchy aliases that I did not spot. The guy probably had a dozen or more user names. What a lunatic. My accuracy admittedly has fallen off since Emmz has been gone. But those who I have accused of being Dutchy even in more recent times were acting like jackasses and needed to be reigned in.

    That is a very ambitious road record.

    Yep, the offense bashed this team to competitiveness in the first half of the season, and the pitching staff gave away a number of games where the offense put up huge numbers. The dog days are here, and hitters are wearing down. It was unrealistic to think that they could keep up their pace (pace means nothing) for an entire season. It is the pitchers turn to win us some games where the offense doesn't do its job in the second half. They need to win some games where the offense scores only 2 or 3 runs. If this team doesn't make the playoffs, it will be because the pitching is not good enough. The offense is world class.

    I don't see a future for him with the Red Sox. He is far from being a good defensive catcher and he is blocked at every outfield position. I am hoping that he gets his ankle healthy so we can use him to get pitching in the off season.

    My batting average on Dutchy spotting was 75%. It was better when Emmz was here for confirmation. Her Dutchy radar was infallible.

    And reports are that Kimbrel experienced more knee soreness in tonight's outing.

    The kid almost had one tonight. He hits the ball to all fields. And the ball does jump off his bat. He is exciting to watch.

    The kid is a player. He does everything well, but I haven't noticed his throwing arm yet.

    O's just lost to the A's and the Jays lost too. It would be nice to be in first place after this home stand.

    Good news/bad news -- after almost 40 pitches, we will not see Kimbrel tomorrow.
