    Smarter? Probably half of this board including our high schoolers are "smarter" than our player development guys. I don't expect them to be "smart". I just want them to be good at their jobs, but when it comes to developing pitchers they suck.

    The 2013 team routinely overcame JF's bad game decisions. I will give him credit for pressing the right buttons in the post season and he completely outmanaged Matheny in the World Series. However, I still think that he is a terrible game tactician.

    He is a terrible game tactician and has snatched defeat from the jaws of victory too often. He almost did it again today. If the only difference between a good manager and a bad manager is a good bullpen, then the manager's job is an unnecessary waste of money. Teams already have press secretaries, so we really don't need a manager to deal with the press. If the in game tactics don't make a difference then you really don't need a manager.

    He had? At that point, he had faced 5 hitters and and two had reached base. Plus, he faced only 1 good hitter.

    But I would rather have Taz face the PH Duffy cold off the bench than to face the lead off hitter Forsythe who had already jacked a Home Run. The matchup with Abad was not a good matchup and if you have to hold your nose and bring in Tazawa, bring him in to face the PH.

    Farrell is a fool. Leon was looking into the dugout when Duffy was announced. Hanley lolled into the dugout. Everyone in the stands who is engaged in the game expected the pitching change.... But noooo.

    i gave the manager the benefit of the doubt and assumed that he knew something that I did not know, because to me Wright looked like an out of shape guy that was completely unfamiliar with running the bases. After all, managers have a lot of information that I don't have

    I only point out the really obvious ones. I don't have time to give him a performance review every game. Edit: And I almost always point out his mistakes in real time, so claims of hindsight are not valid.

    i didn't complain when ERod went out for the 6th inning. Again, you never get the facts right. I do think Farrell left him too long as he was clearly imploding. When the starter is clearly imploding prior to the 7th inning, the manager doesn't have a lot of good choices, but he can't leave the imploding starter out there to blow up the game. He has to go to his box of chocolates in the bullpen and hope that he can get a good inning or 2 before going to Ziegler and Kimbrel.
