  1. There are enough post season awards. We don't need any additional ones. They are all BS popularity contests.
  2. I don't ever want a Red Sox pitcher participating in that useless pointless tournament. It ruined Dice K's career. I am convinced of that. He ramped up too quickly and through a lot of high octane innnings in March permanently damaging his shoulder. Thereafter he was a request visitor of the FL. I remember Carlos Zambrano ruining his career at the WBC too. Stay home Rick and polish that Cy Young award instead of pitching in a pointless exhibition.
  3. Plus Rusney is older. There is less of a chance that he can develop.
  4. What a bust he turned out to be. He is also an example of the risk of giving a long term contract to a guy with no MLB experience
  5. Send the thank you card to Toronto.
  6. Congratulations!
  7. I am not losing any sleep over losing the #26 selection. We wiffed on Trey Ball who was selected much higher.
  8. By 1950, there essentially was no Negro League. It was a barnstorming group and no longer a viable league. There was a lot of African American talent in the big leagues by the mid to late 1950's. There was a lot more talent available to GM's after baseball integrated. There is no way that more available talent makes a GMs job more difficult which was your original point.
  9. Pablo as DH? Gagging and vomiting.
  10. In the 17 years after the color line was broken (1947-1963), the Yankees won 10 World Championships and played in 14 of the 17 World Series.
  11. With less talent available, it shrinks the margin for error and makes the job more difficult. Your argument just doesn't hold water.
  12. I agree. I see no point to signing him to a 6 year deal at this time. I don't see the possibility of such a deal saving the Red Sox much money or extending his time with the Red Sox by much.
  13. Why would white only baseball make their job any easier?
  14. When would Betts hit FA?
  15. Good memory on the rules. We used to flip cards too. If you matched the other kid's combination of heads and tails, you won all the cards.
  16. I think he will be traded at some point.
  17. I would trade them to you for player cards.
  18. GM baseball cards -- bicycle spoke material.
  19. Have you given up all hope of having a better past?
  20. Do you collect FO trading cards?
  21. I have always been amused/annoyed at the prospect of someone telling me that I am not open-minded because I don't agree with them, especially when they show no willingness to listen to my arguments. What is more annoying are those people who think they know what my opinion will be with regard to a hypothetical situation. I don't even know myself.
  22. I think it is a top priority to acquire a premier bat to anchor the lineup and replace Big Papi. Bogey is very streaky and still has not show consistent power. Bradley has prolonged slumps. Betts is great, but he needs protection. I'd make the move to get Encarnacion.
