Those comments were made this year, not in the first 2 years of his contract when he let himself get so obese that he couldn't perform. I remember him answering a question at the beginning of Spring Training about practicing his fielding in the off-season. He stated that he had not practiced his fielding. Maybe that was a reason why his fielding sucked.

8. July 14, 2017: Pablow refuses to earn the last $50 of his contract by taking an assignment to AAA Pawtucket and the Red Sox desigante him for assignment. I think we can attack his character now. Take the money and run, Pablo --from day 1.

And Hanley's $100 million contract is ridiculously bloated too, bringing the total to almost $300 million. Ben's track record was horrendous. For $300 million, we got 1 good season from Hanley. To quote Joe Castiglone, "What a squander."

I don't know much about Marrero, but he has never had any market value, so character issues don't really matter much for him.

I don't think DD will ride it out with Lin and Marrero. Pablo is also done. The next move could be bringing up Devers to see if he can handle it, but he is running out of time before the trading deadline. I am betting on him acquiring a 3B.

Surprising that the 2 Chicago team traded with each other. -
One guy was going to be the catcher of the future -- not 2. We didn't need them both. Getting rid of Swihart had nothing to do with Swihart's injury. The Red Sox didn't maximize the value of that asset. He isn't going to be our catcher, our leftfielder or our 3B. He is excess baggage at this point, and now he is physically damaged goods.

And I wasn't being sarcastic. At the first sign of character issues with this kid, I would move him before he has a chance to turn into a bust.

The apple usually doesn't fall far from the tree. Character issues should be taken very seriously when drafting players -- especially in round 1.

Castillo stinks. He will never wear a Red Sox uniform again because of the luxury tax implications.

The reason why baseball has never returned to Brooklyn is because MLB made a deal with the Mets and Yankees to keep them in NY giving each an absolute veto right to block another franchise from coming to NY. The Yankee veto right extends for a 50 mile radius from Yankee Stadium and a 25 mile radius for the Mets. The Rays or any other team coming to NY will never be possible.

Maybe a box of new balls, but that is about it. The organization needed to figure out who was going to be the catcher of the future and sold high on the other one. They waited too long. Vasquez won the job and Swihart's prospects have crashed.

The Mets already have their version of Swihart in d'Arnaud. A catcher that can't catch. If they are going to fix someone, they will fix d'Arnaud.

We would be selling low on him.

We need to come to the realization that we will get nothing from Pablo. The sooner the FO realizes that the better off for the team.
