Pedroia is a very important piece of this team. His power is down probably because of the bad leg, but he is still a top offensive producer and he is a great fielder. Even if we could replace his bat, we can't replace his glove. We don't want too many games where Nunez and Devers are on the same infield. Nunez is not in the same league as Pedroia when it comes to fielding.

I have said along that one big bat can make a difference. We have added two plus bats but lost one in Pedroia. It has made quite a difference. There is another old saying that "hitting is contagious". This is just another way of saying that hitters can make each other better and that there is a cascading effect. When Pedroia hopefully comes back healthy, the run production should remain improved even if pitchers adjust to Devers and Nunez cools off. If Devers and Nunez remain hot when Pedroia comes back, the run production should really heat up. I think Holt has brought a spark to the lineup the last couple of games. Benintendi has not been the offensive force that I had expected.

That's the kind of excitement that has been missing.

Or maybe they want to reclaim it really badly! LOL! What a crazy game. When Vasquez hit the ball, he knew it was gone, but I don't think the announcers knew and I wasn't sure either.
-
It looks like this team doesn't want to reclaim first place.
-
He is money. No closer closes every game. He has been darn newar perfect this year.
-
I miss him. He is one of our best players on both sides of the ball.
-
The 8th and 9th inning guys give up HRs. Damn!
-
Who is TOB Farrell bringing in to pitch the 7th with the lead?
-
Loving this guy Nunez! And the third base coach tried to get another guy thrown out at the plate with one out.
-
A squander by Cleveland and luck.

In the 70's, the Guardians fed the Yankees like crazy. Steinbrenner had his Cleveland roots and he hired Gabe Paul as GM who had been GM for the Guardians. They practically gave them Craig Nettles and Chris Chambliss, and I think there might have been someone else. I always thought that the Guardians GM was getting a nice cash bonus from the Boss.
-
I think so. If not, Hanley can play 1B and Dever or Nunez DH

Farrell is blowing up the game. Carrasco didn't have it tonight and Tito pulled him after 5 run. Sale didn't have it, but Farrell left him in for 7 runs and brings in a journeyman fresh from the dumpster.
-
Why was that reviewed? Did they think he dropped it?
-
7 run rule in effect tonight for Farrell.
-
Encarnacion would have looked nice in a Red Sox uniform.
-
We would be better with both in the lineup.
-
Did Gomes thank that woman in the booth fro "her heavy heart"? Did I hear that right?
-
Why? Mookie was waving him in while he was crossing the plate. What is wrong with these knuckleheads. There was 1 out. Let him hold at 3rd base.
-
We were just stretching you out for tonight's big pitching matchup.
-
I hope they make him GM. It will make things easier for DD who can't seem to compete with Cashman. BTW: I prefer the term Coffee Caddie.

With regards to things as subjective as sports, it isn't easy to change my mind, because I have pretty good judgment and know the game very well. Changing my mind when I know that I am right would not be a virtue.

When most of those old timers played, a 6 footer was considered tall. And for most of their careers Mantle and Yaz were listed as 6' on their baseball cards. Those were the big guys.

He came up hopping on one leg and grimacing after that slide/rolling dive.
