  1. I don't think we can get into the press room, and if we did and somehow had the opportunity to ask a question, I am pretty sure that we would get one of JF's tortured rationalized answers that says nothing. I will just assign blame, until I see evidence that it is not a coaching issue.
  2. He built the teams. He gets the blame.
  3. How can we question them?
  4. He was terrible at constructing pitching staffs. I was very active criticizing his construction of the pitching staff. I thought he was clueless in going for volume so-called "depth" over quality.
  5. The key on the farm is to separate the wheat from the chaff.
  6. We can't question them, but we can blame them.
  7. I predicted 4th place for each year from 2013-15. I think those predictions are somewhere on TalkSox.
  8. I think they told him that they were just fine with last place and that they miss Ben's lattes.
  9. Magnitude? That connotes importance. Most of these guys will never have their name sewn on an MLB uniform. What you were demonstrating was "volume" not "magnitude". I liken it to a pile. You attach significance to the pile. I think it to be rather insignificant. And let's not forget that some of this top 3 pile (based on opinions) was used to elevate the club from last place to first place (real performance), and I place more importance on the performance of the major league club than the opinions about our farm system.
  10. You can ease off the anxiety meds for the foreseeable future.
  11. So for this pile of ... prospects we got the best pitcher in baseball Chris Sale whose salary is $5 million a year less than Pablo's contracts. We got the best closer in Kimbrel and our current #2 starter for this season (and an All Star in 2016) Drew Pomeranz. What more do you want to get for this pile? They can replenish this most of this pile quite easily over the next couple of years with some smart scouting in the US and internationally.
  12. I have heard that the nose candy is back in vogue with big leaguers. Don't they drug test for that?
  13. If he fails, the clock probably doesn't mean much. The clock is important to keep the successes under control.
  14. I suggested this a few post ago. As usual, you are a few steps behind me Moon. My throw is already safely in the first baseman's glove.
  15. I think you just seized on Nomar's signature play as a pet peeve to show your friends how smart you were about baseball. I am sure there were times when Nomar took an extra step, but you know what, even the other top Shortstops often took the extra step to stop and plant if they were lunging for the ball. When Nomar executed the play the way he practiced it, there wasn't the extra step and it was an astounding defensive play.
  16. We will have to agree to disagree on how he made that play. He often was releasing the ball as he was taking the step that other Shortstops took to stop and plant, and he got an incredible amount of pace on the ball while contorting his body so unnaturally. It was not like the lollipop throws made by Jeter after his stop jump and turn.
  17. Trade them for interns. Build internally.
  18. There is no accountability or discipline.
  19. You need to get film of how he made that play early in his career. He did not jump making that play. He made that throw while still moving across his body. He made that throw while make the step that other Shortstops took to stop and plant themselves. I don't think your memory of how he made that play was misleading.
  20. Because they usually don't DL players after September 1st?
  21. And Red Sox.com
  22. Everything is up for debate on TalkSox.
  23. By Evan Chronis / MLB.com | 7:26 PM ET + BOSTON -- A bit of good news has finally come for Red Sox reliever Carson Smith, who is expected to start a Minor League rehab stint this weekend. Smith threw 21 pitches to hitters on Wednesday, and will be checked out at Fenway on Thursday before the official decision is made if he'll begin his rehab stint.
  24. Even if they know with precise certainty that the weather will clear at 10 pm, it is unfair and unreasonable to make fans wait for a start time that is 3 hours late.
