  1. Are you referring to Salty's ghost stories?
  2. So Salty sees ghosts?
  3. Bogaerts is not in Sweeney's class in that regard. Sweeney is a big guy about 6'4' qbout 230. Yet, he went something like 600 ABs without a HR.
  4. Moreland runs the bases like a moron. The minute that Souza released the ball Moreland and Butter should have known that it was airmailed and he could have walked to 3B.
  5. He is finally driving the ball over the last week.
  6. The game plan for Boom Boom Porcello to win is the same as it has always been -- allow no more than 1 Porcello or 2 solo Porcellos.
  7. Lovullo was not even the interim manager. He had no official title. There are many bad managers, probably most. Where he stacks up in that pile of stink doesn't matter much to me. He still stinks.
  8. Maybe, but Farrell's record was his record. You can't give him credit for what they did under Lovullo.
  9. The good part of that last place record was under Lovullo.
  10. I would not dispute that at all. The same was true last year.
  11. What? He just readjusted every finger on his bating gloves and his shoes before each pitch. He did it pretty quickly. LOL!!
  12. And Nomar was notorious first ball fastball hitter.
  13. But we do know something with absolute certainty. That a key bonehead play did not help you win the game. Whether it caused or contributed to a loss is up for debate and some cases are more clear than others.
  14. I definitely didn't want to face your team in the playoffs, as you always are tough for me to beat. You usually beat me. Congratulations to Thunder and Gringo for winning their Division Championships! I would prefer to use PayPal for sending the prize money ($50) for winning the division. Please provide me with your PayPal email address in a PM.
  15. I am not sure.
  16. Many hitters don't swing at first pitches except occasionally to keep pitchers honest. Many batters want to judge the velocity and movement and take the first pitch -- Williams, Yaz, Boggs and many other great hitters took the first pitch. Other great hitters are first ball fastball hitters.
  17. The dynamics of the game are such that a single play or misplay can make the difference in a game that would appear not to be close from the final score. Schilling always used to say that the difference between winning and losing was the execution by him of 5 or 6 pitches. That didn't mean that he could lob the other pitches. it meant that those 5 or 6 pitches were the key pitches in the game -- turning points.
  18. And you are a beacon of positivism? Must you continue your boring lecturing of other posters for how they watch the games and what they discuss. Talk about negative. When watching games, we note and discuss the truly outstanding plays as well as the errors and misplays. Everything else is standard fare -- very high level high skilled standard fare, but not enough to generate discussion. Are we supposed to ooh and ah about a throw to first base that gets the batter by 30 feet? If you examine the game threads, we mention, discuss and gush about the extraordinary physical and smart plays. Those discussions don't last that long, because there is little or no disagreement about the excellence of those plays and the positive impact on the game. On the other end of the spectrum, we mention the stupid plays, because first and foremost, they are preventable. Those plays also have a negative impact on the the outcome of games, but the impact of those plays can be subject to dispute. If you want to dispute the effect of those plays, that is why we are here, but cut out the ******** lecturing, and please try to keep the discussion to the plays in question and not discussing the effect of these types of plays on the entire season, which involves far more conjecture than discussing the effect of a particular play on the outcome a single game. I guess that you don't see that.
  19. Boom Boom Porcello.
  20. The Yankees got punished for having phone in the dugout last year? I am surprised at that and how light our punishment was.
  21. Pedroia's head will explode if he makes an out here and goes 0 for 8.
  22. I have seen it at games. He just stands there very often when he should be waving and screaming. On TV, it is not so easy to see, but if Butter had waved him to 3rd, I don't think Moreland turns around.
  23. 2 on and 0 outs. How do we mess this up? maybe 2 men standing on 3rd base while Butter looks confused.
  24. The third base coach should get in your line of sight as you round 2nd and wave you on or stop you. And then you should pick him up well before you get to 3rd so you know whether to slide. Butter's hands must be tied down.
