  1. Now, I really like this acquisition. Three years of Joely. A jolly jolly good time.
  2. It is funny how people get so twisted over any criticism of Bloom’s moves.
  3. I guess the FO is concerned about being buried in paperwork if they leave these Dollar Store acquisitions until later in the offseason when we are making consequential signings. An acquisition like this could distract Bloom from deciding whether to pursue Bogey, Swanson or Correa.
  4. We an use him when 3 lefties are coming up.
  5. Is he an upgrade? You can find plenty of guys on the side of the road in Florida at the end of March as good as him who are looking to hitch a ride north.
  6. https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2022/11/red-sox-sign-joely-rodriguez.html He stinks.
  7. And if they don’t stagger the timing of their injuries, we will need to pitch Plawecki.
  8. Are you asking what is his worth on the open market or what can the Red Sox afford to pay him in the context of their budget, including Henry’s other bad investments?
  9. Any projected rotation that includes Paxton is not realistic imo. Paxton triggered his paltry $4 million option, imo, because he knows that he is finished. If he was healthy and his stuff was not terribly diminished, he would have held some showcases and done better than the $4 million option.
  10. or the former GM of the Champion Astros.
  11. Maybe we should bring in some people from the NYY front office.
  12. Didn’t he run his hedge fund business into bankruptcy?
  13. Did Bloom take any of his salary?
  14. Maybe you weren’t around for 2007, but I liked the off-season before 2007. I also liked the off seasons when we got Sale, Price and J.D. Is that sad? That’s at least 4 off seasons, off the top of my head, that I liked.
  15. Who would Hugh get as the #2?
  16. I don't know, but I would go out and grab the Astros former GM and let Bloom manage a minor league franchise.
  17. Has anyone mentioned that the Red Sox released Franchy Cordero and all of his skills and athleticism? Now we have Winkowski (the league leader in hard hit balls) in return for Benintendi.
  18. So we can start the season with 4 #4’s and #5’s plus whatever Mr. Glass Sale can give us. Maybe Buchoolz is looking for work.
  19. Off the top of my head, the Red Sox ,at a minimum, need: 2 starting pitchers 1 Shortstop 1 Corner OFer 1 Power bat (could be the Corner OFer) 1 closer (Committee never works and the 9th inning is different) This is the bare minimum needed to compete in the Division.
  20. And more often than not people use that term for these types of signings.
  21. Bells, you get me. LOL! It has always irked me when people call these signings “low risk high reward”.
  22. Anthony Franco on Paxton: Someone finally got it right.
  23. Congrats to DD too taking his 4th franchise to the World Series.
  24. I am happy for Christian Vasquez and Dusty Baker.
  25. Schwarber... pfft.... what would we do with him.
