Weekend daygame threads are usually shorter. Even the shut ins occasionally venture outside for fresh air. If this had been a weeknight game the gamethread would have been much longer for the exact same game. -

i didn’t say that it was nonexistent just that there isn’t a lot of it. And I still consider college kids to be kids, not adults.

i was referring to the person who broke the story on Hanley. That person didn’t know who he was. Of course there was plenty of opinion about it after the story dropped. That was natural. The irresponsible act was the initial reporting of the story. My opinion that I would stay out of the country for a while if I was Hanley was not a slam at him or a prejudgment of him. It is sound advice to wait until the authorities have time to sort out the issue and hopefully clear him. That would be better than coming back during the investigation and possibly being detained and/or interrogated.

i agree about Girl’s softball. It is probably some of the best competitive Softball you can watch, but Girl’s Softball is just that. There really isn’t much WOMEN’s softball that is played on a very high level. The girl softball players who want to continue paying into adulthood and into their 30’s often need to find co-ed leagues to join.

If I were Hanley, I wouldn’t come back to the States for a while.

No one “believed” anything about him. It is the nature of instantaneous news in the Internet age. There is a lot of irresponsible news reporting that is improperly sourced and unverified. The person that dropped the bomb on Hanley didn’t know anything about him.

You are right, but there are much sadder stories than his, and we don’t even know if he wants to play anymore.

I am confident that he will not finish the season hitting .178, but he is still going to stink.

Unfortunately, no team will touch him after this whether or not it is unfounded. Why would they take the chance. He is pretty much a shot player.

This year I will go to about 5 games. Most years closer to 10person. I watch a lot of their games on TV.

We should make a serious run at Wilmer Flores on the Mets. I have watched a lot of him and have not checked the stats. He rakes LHP with good power. He plays 1st and 3rd. He's meh at 1st and not as good at 3rd. I like him better than Canha.

I am looking for information on Freddie Peralta of the Brewers. He has been called up for a second time this season. He is 2-0 in 3 starts with a 2.30 ERA. The intriguing stat for me is that he has 25 k's in 15 2/3 innings. The kid is 22 and 5'11" and 168 lbs.

You may have avoided the word, but the accusation was still there, and as I have pointed out, it is not the first time. You have hurled similar accusations at other members. I am not looking for a war with you. When you post about sports, which you do 99% of the time, you are interesting and fun. That other stuff needs to be eliminated. I know a few TalkSox people personally and the rest I only know from the boards — some for many years. They all seem to me to be solid citizens who would be good neighbors and community members. There is no reason to ever make an accusation like that against them, and if cause arises to make such an accusation, the public board is not the place to do it. It is one of the worst accusations that you can make against another person. We should just move on.

Take your nonsense to a political board. Maybe it is okay to attack the character on political boards. It is unwanted here. This is a sports board where we can debate sports and call each other out for our opinions and we can even occasionally attack the intelligence or knowledge of others, but attacking the character of people here with reprehensible unfounded accusations is over the line. I don't care if Sox75 is your neighbor, you don't know Spud, and you have hurled your poison at him too. Knock off that s*** or you should go somewhere else.

Not a lot, but enough to see that his hands are terrible and his footwork needs a lot of work. In comparing him to Devers, the only plus for Moncada is speed. I think Devers will be the better all around hitter. The metrics around this are inconclusive at this stage in their careers. They both suck in the field, and i don't think the metrics disprove that. They are both young and should improve.
