I have a lot of concern about Whitlock being able to carry a heavy workload over an entire season. I’d be thrilled if he could give the team 150 innings.
it wasn’t a pejorative. I was just noting that he has a heart condition. I am more than a bit surprised that Bloom would sign a 35 year old with a heart condition who is on a decline.
edit: Old with a bad heart— he is still an improvement
No worries. Bloom couldn’t get it done. He is not valuing these guys accurately if he keeps getting outbid. Abreu was reportedly his #1 target and Bloom’s offer was not even in the ballpark, and Abreu has been open about wanting to play at Fenway.

DD lands a big fish as usual and Bloom is sunning himself at the Reptile House.
You had to figure that the Mets would go hard after Verlander after losing deGrom. Bloom is at the San Diego Zoo with his family today, because our rotation is solid.
The Winter Meetings start today. Bloom was spotted buying sunscreen (he is very fair skinned) and he picked up San Diego Zoo tickets and Sea World Tickets from the concierge desk.
All the big names are still on the board. It seems like everyone is waiting for someone else to set the market. Do you think it is the players holding back or the clubs?
