  1. Another example of the failing education system in our country.
  2. Welcome. It's a beautiful night in the neighborhood.
  3. A rare consesus of opinion.
  4. I have no problem with that. He covers ground okay. ..and he has a very potent bat.
  5. I don't have firefox
  6. No, that's all I get.
  7. This is the message that I am getting: There seems to have been a problem with the Talksox- Red Sox fan discussion forum database. Please try again by clicking the Refresh button in your web browser. An E-Mail has been dispatched to our Technical Staff, whom you can also contact if the problem persists. We apologise for any inconvenience
  8. Not fixed for me.
  9. I hope the PTBNL is Seanez.
  10. I don't think he is bitter. It's just that many ballplayers have a difficult time of understanding the emotional side of fandom, because it is a business to them. Foulke is one of those guys that is not a fan of the game. It is purely a business for him, but he has a very competitive nature and always gives his best. His unemotional approach has probably helped him be the great closer that he has been throughout the years. He just cannot comprehend our fanaticism. That's okay. Truth be known, a majority of players think the fans are suckers. Foulke is just honest about it. I for one get tired of players moving from franchise to franchise and reciting the same platitudes about the city having a great baseball tradition and great, knowledgeable fans, and a FO that is committed to winning. It makes me sick. They are just blowing smoke up our asses. Stop being offended if a player says he doesn't like fans or criticizes us. We are a pathetic lot, and deserve their disdain. We put up with over-priced tickets, merchandise, and a complete commercialization of the game we grew up loving. Fans have to realize that we are suckers. Those who don't are merely living in denial.
  11. Bard for Mirabelli
  12. Not a good sign if he is still in a cast. But once he takes BP, it will only be a couple of days.
  13. Yikes! No way it takes him two weeks of BP before he can come back. He'll take BP sessions for two days in a row to see how the hand reacts--- any swellin, discomfort etc. Without any setbacks, he takes some AB's in one or two simulated games and he is back within the wee barring any setbacks.
  14. This should be a news-making week on the Clemens-front. i think he'll announce something before the week is over.
  15. The guys you are mentioning may never make it other than Papelbon. The guys I mentioned are bona fide major league stars. This team is stacked with talent. You make moves to win now when there is a realistic opportunity to go all the way. The farm is just as important for trading, maybe more important, than for restocking your ML roster. In three years, I would doubt there are more than 3 guys on the ML roster from the current farm crop.
  16. No, but I would substitute MDC for Hansen. The Sox are an elite team. Of course, yo make moves to win now. By time Lester is ready for prime time, Manny, Schilling, Trot, Lowell, Foulke, and Loretta are likely to all be gone. That's a lot of star power to replace. If the FO doesn't make every effort to win with these guys, why have a $130+ million payroll. Also, getting Willis is not just building for this year. He's only 24. We will be lucky if Lester cracks the rotation by age 24, never mind being the All Star that Willis is.
  17. It goes beyond protesting the actions of the government. It is a slap in the face of every American that loves this country and the brave men that fought and gave their lives to preserve the freedoms symbolized by the flag.
  18. When I played there was no body armor. You learned to jacknife and flip and taste some dirt to avoid getting hit. I rarely got hit above the waist. Getting out of the way of pitches is a lost art today at all levels. When Mays used to face Drysdale he would be flipping and flopping all over the place. The only times he would get hit would be if Twin D threw at his belt line or below. He'd nail Willie in the ass or the small of the back.
  19. I would have had the advantage of knowing it was coming. You on the other hand would not have suspected a thing until the stitches took a chunk out of your ass and you jumped straight up in the air just a few seconds after you finished your prolonged ritual.
  20. Hey, no negativity about Curt should ever come from a Red Sox fan. Not too many guys would have sacrificed his body and possibly his career to have that procedure done before game 6 of the 2004 ALCS and game 2 of the WS. I can't think of any that would have done it. As much as I admire Petey, he never would have done it. Not only did he let them do the procedure twice, but he went out there on one ankle and performed at a championship level. I don't care if Curt mugs every guy with a camera and a mike, he can do no wrong. So, shut your pie-hole and reserve your negativity for someone else.:thumbdown
  21. I think you are on to something here. Silence would kill him. I am sure not too many people have considered this greeting. You should call WEEI and get the word out. It would be really funny if there was just stone silence.
  22. That was before the X-ray results. Tito is always very cautious and conservative. The two weeks is probably an outside date set by the medical staff before the X-ray results. I think based on the "expanded workout" remark that he will be patrolling CF by the end of the week.
  23. I'd give them Lester and Pedroia if that's what it took. Trading away your farm system is exactly one of its major functions. Lester is not going to help the ML club this year. They are still teaching him the basics. And he may not be ready by next year. This Red Sox team is ready for Prime Time, and Willis could step right in to solidify the rotation. He's cheap and young and really good. He would be Red Sox' present and future.
  24. Did they say that today? What would constitute an expansion of his workout routine other than hitting? Was it his throwing hand?
  25. From today's Boston Herald: If this means he can take BP, maybe he is back in uniform by the end of the week. Then I hope I never have to see Willie Harris ever again.
