    But if WMP can't go, that will leave us with a bottom 4 of Harris, AGon, Belli, and Snow. I don't like that. That spells low run production for Wakefield. They should put Crisp in the starting lineup tomorrow. Even if his timing is off, he's a thousand times better than Willie Harris.

    Based on his career thus far, it would seem that 150 hits per year for 6 or 7 years should not be a problem. Unfortunately, even if he remains healthy, performances often fall off dramatically in the mid-30's. 3,500 hits would be very tough, but not impossible. It would take about 9 or 10 more years. By age 40, Jeter would obviously not be an economically viable player at anything close to his current salary. Jeter, unlike Bernie, may not want to play for small $. He also might have too much ego not to be "the man." Bernie obviously has very little ego. I don't see Jeter accepting a diminished role. Forget about him moving to 3rd and swapping SS with ARod. He'd never stand for that.

    With Jeter there are some additional considerations beyond his health. As a SS will he be able to hold down the SS position until age 37 or 38. If he ages out of the position, does he move to 3rd? ARod is already there. Do they move him 1B? He is a good offensive player, but he doesn't have the kind of pop that you look for from a first baseman. He has always been a top of the order hitter, partly because of his speed. Will he be a viable top of the order hitter at 38? He doesn't have middle of the order pop.

    I can't argu that, but it would mean much more if another Yankee had gotten to 3,000 hits.

    The point is that being the youngest Yankee to get to 2,000 is not an indicator of future milestones, because no Yankee ever got to 3,000.

    You are right. I checked the thread you had n't crossed the line, so I apologize for the insulting remark. I am not a hypocrite. I don't start insults. I just confused Yankee fans and who said what. Edit: Plus this Yankee thread blows. If it hadn't been for me, it would have been totally dead during the game. I tried to stir you guys up to get it going, but I swear you guys are only happy when you are talking about the Red Sox. And I though us Sox fans were sick pups. You guys need help.

    I think we had already crossed over the line of unpleasantness, that is why insulted you. I don't start insults, but I am not a doormat either. I will give back as good as I take. There is nothing hypocritical about that. Please go find someone else to match wits with. This is getting boring.
