  1. If it ain't broke...
  2. Every doolar and prospect given up for this guy was totally wasted. The franchise would get more value out of the money if they spent it on additional toilet paper and paper towels for the Fenway bathrooms. Isn't this guy 40 games under .500 with an ERA around 5. What's the point? He makes Clement look like Halladay. This is more stupid than a Duquette Band Aid move. The FO has to stop jerking around and get serious about getting another experienced pitcher. They can get by with this crap for now, but sooner or later they'll have to make a meaningful move.
  3. Harris vs. WMP? This is not worthy of a thread.
  4. We are starting to think alike. Scary... right?
  5. How many all star young OFs do they have? Crawford will just get better.
  6. Mayhbe some team will look at these numbers and take him off of our hands. I get sick to my stomach whaen I see him on the mound. He's an old POS. It was a very bad signing.
  7. Tampa would be crazy to do that. I would never trade an everyday all star for any pitcher, especially a largely unproven pitcher.
  8. Reports on Foulke don't sound good. It would be great if he could get healthy. He has ice in his veins when he is healthy.
  9. Thank goodness they have finally realized that Tavarez and Seanez are wastes. Look for one of them to get DFA'd when Foulke returns.
  10. Puhlease! Most of them would argue with you that Wang is better than Ruffing.
  11. I don't view Pedroia as an untouchable blue-chip prospect. I could also see parting with Murphy. I wouldn't move Lester and/or Hansen for a 39-year old pitcher, but I'd move just about anyone else within reason to get Smoltz.
  12. As repulsive as bandwagon fans are they are not the reason that Yankee fans are obnoxious. It has been pointed out that there are a growing number of these no-nothing fans at Fenway. It is the result of an increase of corporate-owned seats. These bandwagon fans would never spend their own money on a sports ticket, but they take up the best seats in the house for free and say stupid things like :Why are those seat up so high" as they point to the Monster seats. The Yankee fan characteristic that makes them uniquely obnoxious is this crazy notion that many of them have that rooting for the Yankees makes them somehow superior. It's hard to explain, because it is so bizarre. It does not afflict every Yankee fan, but it seems to affect many of their loudest fans. They somehow equate the success of the Yankees (26 championships) with their own self-worth. I know a lot of ******* fans that root for many different teams that are obnoxious in their own right, but none compare to the self-righteous arrogance of many Yankee fans. I want to be clear that not all Yankee fans are so afflicted, e.g. Optimist and others on these boards are not afflicted with this characteristic.
  13. Today's NY Post reports that Dotel has had a setback with Triceps tendinitis. He will not throw again until Thursday and that will be on flat ground. IMO the Yanks will be lucky if he returns after the All Star break. He'll be in no rush to come back, because he could endanger his career if he returns too soon. Don't kid yourselves by believing that he wants to get back ASAP to help the team win. That's just BS. His career comes first, so there is no way he returns until he is close to 100%. http://www.nypost.com/sports/yankees/dotels_return_delayed_yankees_george_king.htm
  14. Welcome. Thanks for letting it all hang out.
  15. How about the AL Trash Bin?
  16. We need a top of the rotation guy to compete in the playoffs. A top three of Schilling, Smoltz and Beckett would be very solid and would give the Sox an excellent chance of advancing through the playoffs.
  17. Because Smoltz can put the team over the top. Pedroia may never be better than Frank Mennechino.
  18. I'd trade Pedroia for Smoltz in a heartbeat. We have Lowry to step in for Pedroia.
  19. I really don't care what you think about the Red Sox players. IMO, everything in pinstripes from the players to the coaches to the ballboys is trash. Their stadium is a toilet, and their fans are the most obnoxious in all of sports.
  20. Wang lost the game. No one lost it for him. His pitch count was not high. There was no reason not to leave him out there. He's a professional that lost due to his own failures. Why should anyone feel bad for him? As far as "trash", anything in pinstripes is trash to me. What don't you get about that?
  21. A thrilling victory after Francona tried to give the game away. A thrilling loss by the Yankees. A happy Father's Day.
  22. I will be doing my Happy Dance.
  23. I wish that were true.
  24. THe biggest Scavenger win of all time.
  25. Nixon is in a nice groove at the plate.
