  1. If someone trumps it, fine, or the Sox sweeten the pot. The Sox need to get involved in the sweepstakes if the Marlins are going to move him.
  2. Hansen, Ellsbury and Martinez that should get their attention.
  3. By the time he gets his timing back it'll be Labor Day, and he probably nwon't recover his power stroke until ST 2007. With his diminished skill level, he'll be a step down from Melky.
  4. He never should have pitched to Cabrera with two outs and a man on third base.
  5. I am watching Dontrelle against the Yankees, and it's just completely nuts to think that this guy can't tear it up in the AL. The kid is a complete stud. If it takes a couple of blue-chippers to get this guy, Theo should do it to get this 24 year-old lefty star.
  6. The great ones get special treatment. It has always been that way, and no one has done it better than Pedro in the last 40 years.
  7. Mueller had chronically bad knees. Loretta has no such physical problems. I see no problem with the way Youk was broken in. The up and down to AAA last year was frustrating for him, but his ML exposure and a good ST made it apparent that he was ready for the full time job. I am not so sure that he could have handled a full time job in '04 or '05 either offensively or defensively. I don't think you realize how much his game has progressed in the laqst couple of years, and his sporadic ML exposure no doubt helped his development. I'd think Pedroia should be eased in before he starts.
  8. He's going to get better. He's not going to get worse, and from what I ahve seen from him so far, he ain't bad now.
  9. Thanks. The forecast for tomorrow looks pretty bad too.
  10. I just heard a report that no make up date has been announced for today's rainout. Optimist is the DH info solid?
  11. He hasn't played one game in the majors and he has limited ST experience, so what makes you so sure that he is ready to step into a full time ML job? Franchises like the Red Sox are not big on letting players learn on the job. The scrutiny that a kid would be subject to as he goes through the inevitable growing pains might not be the best way to break him into the majors. I don't see them going "sink or swim" with this kid next year. Hell, they weren't ready to throw Papelbon into the rotation coming out of ST regardless of Foulke's status. You can keep saying it all you want, but repeating it over and over will not make it happen, nor does it mean that it is the right decision, even if the FO does it.
  12. I don't know if I'd call it a logjam. It's more like a pile of crap.
  13. There's no reason not to let Pedroia caddy for a year. They could offer Loretta arbitration and hope no one signs him to a multi-year contract. Loretta is not a high ticket guy. There's no reason to let him walk for chump change, when he could be a good mentor to Pedroia in '07.
  14. If Lester keeps pitching the way has been since he came up, he's not going anywhere.
  15. Any word on the severity of Dan Uggla's injury? The lucky Yankees have been able to avoid him. He's one of the hottest hitters in the game right now.
  16. Booing Red Sox players and ex-Red Sox players is what Yankee fans do. I can respect that. It doesn't mean that they are *******s.
  17. The Sox don't need to pinch pennies. It would be foolish to let Loretta walk after this year. Pedroia could come up and caddie at 2nd and SS next year. It would be foolish to give him a starting spot out of the box without knowing whether he can handle it. If they let Loretta walk they would be operating without a safety net if Pedroia flops.
  18. I hope he makes it back. He's a solid ballplayer and a solid guy. I heard back in 2004 from someone that knew people in the Cubs FO that the Cubs loved the guy, but his knees have been very bad for a very long time. They were too worried about his knees back then to keep him.
  19. Any recovery by Wells would be earlier than expected.
  20. Only *******s and Yankee fans will boo Pedro. IMO there percentage of ******* fans in RSN is small, and not many Yankee fans will venture to Fenway for this game.
  21. WMP will play a major role with this club. That may not happen until next year, but Kapler will never be more than a defensive replacement and role player. There is room enough on the roster this year for both. Thye other Willie, the POS Harris will get DFA'd. The bench is shaping up nicely.
  22. He was up for such a short period that it is implausible that many team members would have taken him into their confidence. Additionally, there are only a small handful of guys left from the 2000 team.
  23. I'd hate to part with AGon at SS. I haven't seen a SS as good as him for the Sox. He and Lowell have that lefts side plugged up tight.
  24. Neither would I.
