  1. I'll gladly admit that I was wrong. I tend to be a pessimist if you haven't noticed. I won't admit that I quit, because if I quit, I wouldn't be watching every game like a demented fool, and I won't change my user title, but I will gladly admit that I was wrong.
  2. This team need Francona to go "Ozzie Guillen' on them. Call them out and tell them that they stink. It worked for Ozzie last year as his team was collapsing. Leyland called his team out earlier in the year and it worked.
  3. Atleast they are getting a really solid effort from Wells to keep us in this game. He's having his second good outing in a row. We haven't had a starter have two good outings in a row in I don't know how long. This is what the pitching needs to do when the bats go silent. Up till now, our starters have let us get blown out and dug the offense huge holes to crawl out of.
  4. I thought Casey jacked it out.
  5. IBB to Ortiz. C'mon Manny. Make them pay.
  6. Tie game. An empty RBI by DFA.
  7. It would just be nice to win against a good team for a change.
  8. I went a little out of my way on the way home and went by Yankee stadium. I urinated on the new site to commemorate today's groundbreaking and for good luck.
  9. I haven't written them off since day one. I have been critical of this front office since the off-season, because they made a series of moves and non-moves that I disagreed with. I also think that there was chaos caused by the Theo's hissy fit and the FO power struggle. There's no neede to reiterate those disagreements. Just because I disagree with the FO job this year doesn't mean that I had written the team off from the beginning. That's just not true. However, when it came to crunch time and our boys needed reinforcements, the FO turned its back on this 2006 group and that's unfortunate. I didn't write them off my friend. The FO has clearly written them off.
  10. Boomer got pissed off about the 10 pitch at-bat.
  11. That's more realistic than optimistic.
  12. I was just trying to be helpful. He seems to be going down a very unhealthy path.
  13. Yes you can just feel the intensity in that state.
  14. We potentially have the best rotation: --if Lester can consistently go 6 or more --if Beckett can avoid big innings and homers --if Wells can consistently pitch like he did in his last start --if Wakefield can come back soon and be productive. There are just too many "ifs" for me. When you have that many "ifs' things don't usually work out very well. It reminds me of an old saying when somebody say "if this' and "if that" the response is "If the Queen had balls she'd be the King, and that ain't happening either."
  15. The only way our boys get to the playoffs is with a ticket.
  16. ANd your basis for this statement is?
  17. Unless you are a chick, your fantasies should include breasts and pussy. Get a grip.
  18. Guillen has two bad knees. Although he is a smart baserunner, he is not that fast.
  19. Not so fast, the White Sox are looking pretty solid right now. They kept the core of their team together by re-signing Konerko and Garland. If Garland had walked, their pitching would really have been hurting from the off years of Buehrle and Garcia. Those guys are suffering from tired arms, but they are still quality starters. In addition to keeping their core together, they added Thome. There lineup is considerably stronger although their pitching is not quite performing at last years level. All in all, IMO they have an improved version of last years team, and they have that intangible resilient characteristic that the '04 Sox had. They never think they are out of a game.
  20. He might have been in for defense in that spot.
  21. Maybe when both teams were still in NY.
  22. He must be watching the yankees on TV in the bullpen. He's got to be kidding. After Schilling, the rotation consists of the three stooges and the fat half of Jake and the Fat Man.
  23. My sentiments exactly. By the time the kids are seasoned major leaguers, Manny will be gone or in the last year of his contract, and there is just simply no guaranty that he an Ortiz will continue to produce at this level. Manny is 34 and both have avoided any serious injury and they have put together a three year record that has not been matched since Ruth and Gehrig. What we have been witnessing has been historic. It's a damn shame that the FO didn't do what it needed to do to put last year's and this year's team over the top. When you think about it, last years starting pitching without Schilling might have been worse than this year's staff and last year's pen was an abomination. Despite those glaring, gaping holes Manny and Papi slugged the team to the playoffs. With just a little pitching help, who knows what that team could've done. Again, this year's team is riding the backs of Manny and Papi, but the other teams like the Tigers and even the Yankees have improved their pitching and overtaken us. Who will take the place of Manny and Ortiz when the kids are ready if they are no longer the fearsome two-headed offensive monster that they are now? You don't just pull guys like this of a FA shelf. And if there is one that is available he will cost a pretty penny.
  24. Against Nixon in RF, they might not even send the runner from 3rd and Trot would've caught that ball. That's a can of corn for Trot.
