  1. Ryan had one more productive year. His last 2 year he won only 5 games each. He only threw 56 innings in his last year. I must have missed your response to this post.
  2. At least he has some pride to get injured. Our #5 starters and about 3 guys in our pen have no pride and no shame.
  3. "Twighlight" Pedro suffered a strained calf warming up before tonights game and he got roughed up in the first inning. It was only slightly worse than Beckett's usual first inning.
  4. He's a serviceable mopup guy and nothing more. He can't be trusted with the ball in his hand in a big game. That knot in the pit of your stomach when you see him warming up means more than any stat.
  5. In 1990, at age 25, RJ had an ERA of 4.82 compared to a league ERA of 3.95. In 2005, a 25 year old Beckett had a 3.38 ERA compared to a league ERA of 4.02. Stupid argument?
  6. What argument? I never claimed that he would be as good or better than Randy in his prime. You made the following statement: I responded pointing out that a 26 year old Randy Johnson was not as good as a 43 year old Nolan Ryan in 1990. Where did I make a comparison to Randy in his prime?
  7. Yeah, your #5 is better than our # 5. That's your big point? He's the worst starting pitcher in the history of the game. I refer to him as "The Ultimate Loser."
  8. Johnson is the Red Sox 5th starter... duh?
  9. That's really saying a lot.
  10. As it was for a 26 year old Randy johnson, when he wasn't as good as a 43 year old Nolan Ryan? Yeah, that's right. Look it up...1990.
  11. You are right. I misread the stats. He only had 24 wins at age 26. It's 44 and counting v. 24 for Randy Johnson at the same age. Is that a negative thing that Beckett developed into a major league pitcher at an earlier age than Randy Johnson?
  12. How is that scab doing?
  13. I think it is a compliment for the 25 yr old Beckett to be compared to Randy Johnson. BTW: At age 26 Randy Johnson had 31 wins. Beckett already has 44.
  14. It's still August and his ERA is a big .08 under 5. Do you really want to be popping of already?
  15. They just can't beat good teams.
  16. He might have slowed for one or two steps until he saw the third base coach windmilling. If he ran hard for those two steps, he would've been out by 3 feet instead of 6. Coach tried to steal a run and got burned.
  17. The Sox will take care of that momentary lapse under 5. They should get him comfortably over 5. BTW: Are you bragging about a 4.92 ERA for Unit on August 14th?
  18. Manny had to go back towards second to make sure the liner went through. He was just hitting 3rd as the ball came back into the IF. Never should have sent him. He was out by a lot.
  19. Just a stupid move by the 3B coach. I guess he thought he would steal a run cause the throw was coming into 2nd.
  20. Thank you Rudy for the add-on runs.
  21. DFA with another empty hit in front of the big boys.
  22. Donnelly doing his best to put the game out of reach.
