  1. A big whew! Saved by the DP
  2. Over-the Hill Johnny picking up where he left off and Beckett having his usual 1st inning.
  3. It's done. http://boston.redsox.mlb.com/NASApp/mlb/news/press_releases/press_release.jsp?ymd=20060819&content_id=1618126&vkey=pr_bos&fext=.jsp&c_id=bos
  4. Nixon would tackle him and pin him.
  5. Kapler? Jeezus! Coco is a switch hitter.. right?
  6. Let's try to remember that the poster (Jon_Papelboner) that made that suggestion is an imbecile.
  7. There's not much of a choice is there? Hopefully, they will do a better job. They have to do a better job. JH will not tolerate having the second biggest payroll and not making the playoffs for two straight years. Some one's head would roll. Maybe several heads.
  8. He doesn't have much to work with.
  9. I got accused of quitting on the Sox for expressing my opinion that they will not get to the playoffs. That's just so ridiculous. Since Spring Training, I have watched the Red Sox play in 7 different cities and spent a nice chunk of change doing it. None of the fans have quit on the Red Sox the Sox management has. They left the 2006 team for dead. Getting no reinforcements at the All Star break had to impact the morale of the clubhouse and the manager who knows he can't win with this squad. Tony Massoroti says it well in today's Herald. I only hope the plan for 2007 works out. Frankly, I think this season got bungled up because there was so much in-fighting and power struggles in the FO and let's not forget Theo's hissy fit. Grow up Theo. You have your dream job, and everyone was showing you the love after '04. Stop being petty. Listen to LL who has more experience and who is twice as smart as you are. Most of all, just do your job better. This year's roster sucked-- too many old, old sick and injured men and children. Here's the link from Tony M's article. http://redsox.bostonherald.com/redSox/view.bg?articleid=153515
  10. That makes it stunning? How much smart money do you think was bet on the Red Sox tonight, when the Red Sox were throwing a kid that can't go 6? I wouldn't have bet a dime on them tonight. It would have been shocking if Ponson had beat Schilling, but beating anyone else was neither shocking or stunning.
  11. Has anyone told you that you are a blithering idiot?
  12. Take your head out of your ass, wipe your eyes clear of all fecal matter and read my post again. In my post I made the following statement: That is not enough credit for you? What is wrong with you? If you really need so much validation, you must have serious mental malfunction.
  13. You got the wins. Isn't that enough credit. What do you want a gold star like a little school girl on her spelling test? I guess you haven't been following the Red Sox very carefully, but teams are regularly beating our pitchers like Pinatas. Lester made it past six innings once maybe twice sor far this year, and he hasn't done it at all recently. His WHIP and ERA lately are terrible. He doesn't belong on the major league team. Timlin has been stinking up the joint too. I'll give the Yankees almost as much credit as KC who beat the Sox 3 straight.
  14. Stunning? Unfortunately, blowing leads has become all too familiar to Red Sox fans. I guess you didn't follow the KC series.
  15. The Red Sox are not better than KC right now, so beating the Red Sox is not really a great accomplishment right now. If the Yankees don't win tomorrow, they will not have been as tough on the Red Sox as KC was. So, yeah you can be proud that you can't beat us as much as KC if you lose tomorrow. If the Yankees win tomorrow, they will equal what KC did to us. Congratulations in advance if the Yankees win tomorrow. The Red Sox are not a better team than the Yankees. They are not better than a lot of teams right now. So, do you get why we are pissed, or do you have to take a remedial logic class?
  16. That's exactly why it is embarrassing.
  17. What you did to us? Other than Damon who played superbly the rest of your team showed nothing special. Be thankful for the gift wins. We sent children and the infirm to the mound as starters. Neither desrves to be in the majors. Then we sent a collection of kiddie relievers and old has beens to the mound. I hate to break it to you, but the Yankees did n't play as well as KC played against us last week. These games were embarrassing, but self-inflicted losses. Why the hell haven't we banned this jerk?
  18. And with the FO doing things your way, we ain't gonna make the playoffs either. They've turned this team into a $120 million joke.
  19. He's on the DL. I think Johnson should be shot like a lame horse. He doesn't deserve another shot on a Major League roster.
  20. I am glad that fans like yhou feel allwarm and fuzzy when they hear Bob Shepherd's voice and they remember the first time they went to a game. I just think Shepherd is a selfish old prick keeping that mike to himself into his 80's. Let someone else have his/her day in the sun. I was a big Scooter fan and I miss his goofiness in the booth, but he knew when it was time to walk away.
  21. It pays to have friends in the NYPD Borough Command.
  22. He's a 10-15 game winner in the Al or NL.
  23. Good riddance to Johnson. He was a terrible acquisition, and not at all low risk. He cost this team a lot in the W-L columns.
  24. I like Kaat, Singleton and even Murcer, but Kay is an obnoxious ass of the first order, and Al Leiter is so full of excuses for the players that it is sickening. The two boobs on the radio are caricatures and terrible announcers, but they are hysterical to listen to when the Yankees are losing. Giuapo34 is right. Fans root for or against the players. We are not fans of the announcers. Personally, I think Bob Shepherd should hang it up after 50+ years as the PA guy. He's about 100+ years old. He should give someone else a shot. I am sure the Yankees would give him free season passes for life. Really, he sounds like his dentures are slipping half the time.
  25. He did have a track record of two years as a full time starter in the AL and he got better in his second year. His stuff is the same as it was then. With the improved infield defense, there's no reason to believe that he would not put up 10-15 wins for the 2006 club.
