  1. I remember Yaz playing against the Yanks with diarrhea. After the opposition made the third out in each inning, he came running off the field like a mad man to get to the bathroom. I don't remember the exact game, but my recollection is that he made some key offensive contributions. No pun intended. Most of today's players (Schilling excluded) are a bunch of Mary's.
  2. Let me get this straight. I make a "benign" comment that most heart arrhythmias are benign. You respond "NO s***" in ALL CAPS and proceed to tell me that I don't know the difference between malignant and benign. That was the sequence of events... right? Somehow you conclude from this that I and in general the posters on this site are rude? Get a grip, bud. BTW: The term "benign" as I used it in reference to Ortiz medical condition was how my cardiologist described my arrhythmia
  3. OTH Johnny just beat out an infield chopper to make the score Angels 3 Yankees 2.
  4. One move didn't destroy the Sox, so one move probably wouldn't have saved them at the deadline, but I think Theo should have pre-empted the Yanks and made the Abreu/Lidle deal. That would have at least averted the 5 -game sweep/massacre. I would also have tried to get some relief help.
  5. Hendu talking about how the Boston Press gets into a feeding frenzy with certain players. He used as examples, Rice and Buckner. Today, Manny is an example.
  6. That was in April or May of that year, not the last weekend in August.
  7. Theo is on the trip to Seattle. Hmmm? The Seattle announcers are hammering Theo's non-moves. It's well-desreved.
  8. We are getting no offensive production against this POS pitcher.
  9. Tito must be smoking crack to make out a lineup with Krapler batting 6th.
  10. If you had thought it was a good idea, I would have been shocked. Trading Manny would transform this team into s .500 team fighting for 3rd place.
  11. Looking at this lineup, I wonder why Theo did n't at least get us some RH bench help, and then I remember that the Yankees got Craig Wilson for that PS Chacon. Wouldn't it be nice to have a serviceable bat like Wilson in RF tonight instead of Krapler.
  12. Yankees get lucky in that O Cab is out of the lineup with the finger that he injured last night.
  13. Hendu just said in comparing Crisp to OTH Johnny that Crisp will never be a guy to hit 20 HRs and drive in runs from the leadoff slot. Edit: And Crisp lives up to the expectations and K's with 2 on base.
  14. I can't believe that he is batting 6th. This lineup sucks. Edit: Seattle announcers are saying that Woods has to make Krapler hit himself on base.
  15. The early returns are not good as he K's.
  16. It's nice to have DFA back in the lineup and getting on in front of Ortiz.
  17. Yes, and to prove that I know the difference I'll use each them in a sentence. "Because GhostofMalzone is a malignant personality, I'll treat him with benign neglect.".
  18. No, I think she was saying that athletes are 3/4 American.:dunno:
  19. Carron calling the lineup "interesting"
  20. Some arrhythmia's are completely benign.
  21. Kapler should be nothing more than a defensive replacement.
  22. I don't mind a .500 pitcher in the 5th slot, but not in the 3rd slot.
  23. Could Hinske be worse against lefties than Kapler?
  24. I am familiar with the renewal feature, but IMO the Sox will continue to renew the contract as long as Wakefield can drag himself to the mound and pitch.500 ball, because $4 million for a starters slot is a bargain by today's standards.
  25. This is a pretty crappy lineup. Where's Youk? Kapler batting 6th? Manny can't DH and Ortiz play 1B? Good luck to Schilling tonight. He'll need to hurl a shutout to get win#15. Good luck to Ortiz getting a pitch to hit.
