  1. Add one more stopper to '03 and '05 and they do win three straight. Part of the '04 formula was having two stoppers to prevent extended losing streaks. It also served them well in the post season. The '07 team will go nowhere unless they really bolster the rotation. I don't see them shelling out the big bucks for more than one starter. If paps is a stopper type starter, a rotation of Schilling, papelbon, Beckett, FA and Wakefield would eat innings and cover up alot of bullpen deficiencies.
  2. Well, Foulke just ruined whatever little trade value he may have had.
  3. Is this a frightening glimpse of the future of a team without Ortiz or Manny?
  4. Lopez is a big waste. Who the hell will offer him a contract next year?
  5. Maybe he's a catcher and not a pitcher.
  6. Looked like Bradley trapped the ball, but he shielded it and sold it to the Umps.
  7. Speaking of next year, they have a lot of holes to fill for 2007. The need two starters, a retooled bullpen (only Papelbon and MDC are keepers), a reliable #5 hitter, serviceable backup catcher for Tek whose body is starting to wear out. What is on the horizon for this team. Other than Pedroia replacing Loretta, what help can they get from inside the organization that is ready to compete at the ML level? How much payroll will be available for the FA market.
  8. Nice play by Cora for the DP.
  9. Great! ESPN just showed a fan with a bag over his head. I'd like to see a little more of that type of protest at Fenway. For the price tag that the fans pay to see the team, they deserve something better than this. This team should be loaded in a hefty bag and be put out by the curb.
  10. It looks like I was wrong. I said that this game would be over by the third inning. At 5-0 it was over in the 4th. Damn the government for shutting down BetonSports.com. I could have made a few bucks this evening.
  11. It is hard for me to remember a time when the Red Sox paraded such garbage to the mound on a regular basis before September. It's unbelievable. JSinger drew a comparison of tonight's lineup to the Butch Hobson days. As bad as that team was, and it was bad (7th place finish in AL East), it had a pitching rotation with a young Clemens and Frank Viola, both of whom threw 230+ innings. They had 3 guys in the bullpen with sub 3 ERA's--Fossas (2.43), Harris (2.51), and Quantrill (2.19). They also had Jeff Reardon and 4 other serviceable guys that each pitched more than 130 innings. This year's staff doesn't compare very favorably with that staff and that team was a train wreck, probably the worst Red Sox team I ever watched. It is beyond belief that the 2006 team is starting to conjure up memories for me of that team.
  12. Tito has the hired gun warming in the pen-- Corey. That has to be a good feeling for a manager.
  13. We should take a poll if anyone thinks we sore any runs tonight. I don't think we do.
  14. I suspected that that was the case.
  15. We are getting beat by a team whose infield doesn't even know how many out there are. They gave us 4 outs and we couldn't score.
  16. Hey Yeszir, I think it's about time for one of those trick posts of yours. Something like the one where you posted a picture and unbeknown to you it was a picture of a penis.
  17. http://msn.foxsports.com/mlb/story/5912984 Should we be interested in this?
  18. It's amazing that Crisp's weak arm is also so inaccurate. He misses cutoff men regularly.
  19. That ball had some hangtime. I am surprised that Stinkske couldn't get to it.
  20. they leave em loaded. What else is new.
  21. THe Red Sox need Crisp to get hot for the last month, so he can have some trade value. Based on his season thus far, no one would want him.
  22. ESPN scroll-- Jeff Reardon found not guilty by reason of insanity of robbing a jewelry store. Poor guy. Life after baseball took some cruel turns.
  23. Stinkske with a hit.
  24. Now that would be funny as hell.
  25. If you were the manager of this moneyball A's, wouldn't you jump all over anyone that swings at Gabbard's first pitch. Nice catch by Hinske, but he moves like a tank. A real OF makes that play easily.
