  1. A bad outing by the scab, Cory Lidle.
  2. Wily Mo is not very good in RF. Trot would have had that ball easily.
  3. They should send him back to the O's as the PTNL.
  4. Signing him for 3 years doesn't mean that they have to keep him for two years, unless they pay an absurd amount above FMV. There is no reason that they couldn't trade him after the first year or even during the first year if Pedroia takes control of the job.
  5. If there is any doubt by the FO that Pedroia can step in and perform up to Loretta's offensive level, they should re-sign Loretta. The lineup has already become weaker with the loss of Damon. I don't think weakening a second slot in the lineup would be very wise, especially since Loretta is one of the table setters for the big guns. Really, all the Sox have going for them is the top 4. Five through nine are not what they used to be in prior years when Tek and Nixon were more productive and Bill mueller was winning a batting title. If they screw around with the top 4, they will impair the productivity of Manny and Ortiz and the lineup will become very ordinary.
  6. JSinger must be his Momma if he thinks that Theo would survive two more years with the second highest payroll and no playoffs. IMO, he has until 2008 at most to get this train back on the tracks.
  7. Unfortunately for Theo, he is in a no-win situation with regard to the Beckett trade. If the trade works out in favor of the Red Sox, there is evidence that he opposed the trade. If the trade doesn't work out, the fact that he opposed it is no excuse, because he should have been more effective in putting forth his objections and prevented the trade if he felt so strongly about it. It's to soon to weigh the merits of the trade. In the end it is possible that it could be good for both teams. There is not always a clear cut winner in these things despite Rookie No-Hitters. If Beckett wins a WS and a Cy Young with Boston, how could Boston be faulted for the trade even if Hanley goes on to an ALL-Star career and Sanchez becomes a big winner?
  8. The fact that he disagreed proves nothing and absolves him of nothing. It's nothing more than an "I told you so" excuse for him. If he was an effective leader, he would have convinced the others that it was not a good trade and it would not have been made.
  9. I don't want him fired. I want him to be successful.:dunno: However, two more years without playoffs and the second highest payroll, and I can assure you that there will be plenty of other people leading the charge to have him fired.
  10. If this team is not making a serious run in the playoffs by 2008 that will be the end of his long haul.
  11. Let's not absolve Theo of anything because he was temporarily on an official hissy fit. He was there and he was consulted even though his capacity was not official.
  12. The Twins and the White Sox are both losing tonight. The idle Red Sox could be 6 behind the wins and 5 behind the White Sox in the loss column at the end of the night. If the Red Sox had two or three starters, they might have had a chance.
  13. It's a great ERA built on games against Washington, the Dodgers, Milwaukee, Houston, Atlanta and Arizona. He hasn't even faced the Mets or the Cards. When he faced 2 major league teams that could hit, he gave up 7 runs including 3 homers against the Red sox in 4 1/3 innings and he gave up 8 runs on 8 hits and 6 walks against the Phillies in in 4 1/3 innings. Here's his game log. I would n't take Sanchez on your '07 fantasy team just yet. http://florida.marlins.mlb.com/NASApp/mlb/stats/individual_player_gamebygamelog.jsp?c_id=fla&playerID=434671&statType=2
  14. Theo's worst move was not unloading Hansen, Lester and MDC or Crisp for Oswalt when he had the chance.

  16. Lead-off triple by DeJesus spoils Unit's No-No. Too bad.
  17. What happened the last time?
  18. Red Sox scouts say that he reminds them of David Eckstein, so I guess that's the best we can expect. No one is saying that he remeinds them of Joe morgan or sandberg. He reinds them of a small overachieving average middle-infielder but Pedroia is not as fast. Well that sounds great. DFA Loretta...not.
  19. It was like a Thanksgiving Feast!
