    I was just pointing out that we were not seeing a lot of dissent on the boards. Don't take it so personally.

    It is really disappointing to me that the FO took full advantage of the goodwill they had from the fans and let a short window pass by where they might have been able to win one or two more titles. I really thought the that 2004 was a turning point and that the Sox would beat the Yankees like a drum for a few years. THe '04 team had learned to win and that was the final hurdle. They were not given the chance to see if they could repeat. The White Sox kept their key pieces and added Thome. Now that the Red Sox have crashed and burned, we can hope that FO will make moves with an eye towards winning next year.

    It is conjecture now either way. The reinforcements might have made the difference or they might not have made the difference. We'll never know.

    That's too bad...not! Just as amazing as Mo's record is the fact that he has stayed healthy for so long despite Torre's compulsion to use him so much. I will not be sorry to see him go when he finally goes.

    There has been a lot of mono going around. A bad case of mono can be very debilitating, but it's much better than cancer. When I first heard about the swelling under his arms, I got a bad feeling. Hopefully, they rule it out quickly. THe kid must be freaking out.

    The FO didn't come up with the necessary reinforcements when they were needed.

    The Sox need to consider all possibilities , because they can't go with what they've got. Nothing wrong with considering Zito, and at the right price they should sign him. He'll probably be too pricey and not a very good value. If the Sox can't get what they need from the FA pool, they'll have to get creative and pull off a trade or two.

    When I heard that 9 teams were inquiring, I figured that they had a chance of getting a good prospect. It's a good deal for the Red Sox and if he wins some key games down the stretch and in the playoffs, it could be worth it for the Padres.

    Major holes need to be filled. They need two starters and about three good bullpen arms. Other than Papelbon and MDC, no one else can be counted on for next year's pen. Hansen has shown no consistency and no improvement as the season has progressed. Also, they need a #5 hitter. That's a tall order. We can't forget that Gonzo is not signed beyond this year.

    I am with you on this Fred. We want the kid to succeed, but he's had a lot of problems from the get go with consistency. While we are not giving up on him, other posters are over enthusiatic about his future. I don't get excited until I start seeing the results. Lester has given us glimpses of success that cause us to hope, but he has not shown the consistency that is necessary to succeed in the ML.
