1. I am assuming that Ramirez is Aramis Ramirez. Why wouldn't he be playing third with Wily Mo in RF and Youk staying at 1B.
2. That's most definitely describing Mussina. I have to say that I am a bit surprised. Rocker is not sophisticated or highly educated. It's more shocking for this kind of thing to come from an intelligent highly educated person.
3. Mike Myers. His per inning pay has to be right up there with any player in the game, and he sucks.
4. Who would protect Ortiz on such a team? You would have an offense with no pop just like the Angels.
5. Chone Figgins is every bit the prima donna that manny is with about 1/10th of the talent.
6. ORS, you live outside of Boston like I do. The Yankee fans pray that we get rid of him and the Met fans want to get him. What to non Red Sox baseball fans in your area think about this annual "get rid of Manny" nonsense?
7. If they move Manny, be prepared for a third place finish and being out of any realistic playoff race by the end of June. Also, be prepared for Ortiz's production #'s to fall dramatically. Any manager will kick his pitcher in the balls if he gives Papi something to hit. I don't understand why they constantly look to replace the most consistently great RH hitter of our time. He's a nut case. We know that, but he's irreplaceable. It's really appalling that Edes will carry the FO water here if the FO is looking to engage in a smear Manny campaign. Manny hit the s*** out the ball in the Boston Massacre. He came to play. What was obvious in that series was that by starting the series with the "Ultimate Loser" Jason Johnson and the Rookie John Lester in the first two games of the series that the FO had quit on the team. Maybe it became obvious to Manny during the series that his efforts were wasted with such an undermanned squad. He had the bad knee for most of the season. Patelar tendinitis is not a joke. It can quickly turn into a devastating problem. Hey Edes, about some articles about what really happened this year. The FO botched the season from the beginning and quit at the trading deadline. Why don't you call them on that instead of constantly carrying their water. It's funny that outside of Boston, every writer and sports talk show host and knowledgeable fan know s the truth that the FO dismantled the 2004 team prematurely and left us watching a pile of crap. The whole Boston scene is just so incestuous. The Globe, the Herald an WEEI are all in bed with the FO and are afraid to offend them. They only jump on a story after everyone else. BTW: Every Yankee fan that I know would love for the "trade Manny" campaign to be successful. That should tell us something.
8. Joe Randa with a PH HR.
9. He deserves a shot, but it seems that he is not expecting too much which is good.
10. He's at 71 ABs and he's still hitting .183, plus he missed a ball that should have been a DP.
11. Koufax hadn't lost any velocity. He retired because he was diagnosed with an arthritic condition in his elbow. He acknowledged that he could still pitch, but he retired, because he was uncertain how the condition would affect him later in life. Long story short, when he retired the arthritic condition disappeared. I heard stories that well into his 50's he was still bringing the ball in the 80's at Dodgers ST. The arthritic condition was no doubt from overuse. He pitched a complete game victory in game 7 of the 65 WS on two days rest. He usually worked on 3 days rest. Today, he would be a pampered multi-million property and he would have pitched much longer. Pedro has the advantage of advances in training, sports medicine etc. He'll be effective for some time to come, maybe even after his contract expires, if he wants to keep pitching.
12. Jeter? He has little or no muscle definition. Foulke? What makes you suspect him. Even in 94, he barely cracked 90 mph. What about Clemens and his body transformation after he left Boston.
13. I just got back from Boston about an hour ago. Seeing Ortiz hit 50,51 and 52 was a big thrill. So, do accept my bet, or are you a...
14. Sox 4-1 when JT starts. His record as a starter is 2-0.
15. Crisp looked entirely different as a hitter before the injury than after, but he is not a good CF. The injury did not affect his late or bad jumps on balls.
16. Game ending DP --a complete game victory for Tavarez. The only one by a Red Sox Pitcher this season. Very impressive. He'll get a chance at a spot next spring.
17. A real cheap dribbler hit by Wells. Tavarez ball is still moving.
