    It was a great moment in the dugout when they were giving him the silent treatment. He extended his huge arms outward with a big smile and the entire dugout came over to give him a big hug. He's so big I think he was able to bear hug the whole team at the same time.

    Beckett is looking really good lately and it was great to see Ortiz make history. It's just too bad that they didn't put a better team around him.

    Hansen, the closer of the future... I think not. Get him out of here while he still has a lot of potential. Package him with some other prospects to get a real starter, mand sign another FA starter and leave Papelbon to become the next Mo.

    In adddition to needing great stuff to accomplish what he did this year, you also need a closer's mentality. If he's going to be as effective as a starter he'll need to refine his breaking pitch. Also, his closer's mentality, which is as tough as I have seen, will be lost with him in the rotation as he is unlikely to finish any games. I think we may all be bitching and moaning when he looks like Beckett as a starter and we have some average or better than average closer giving us 9th inning heart attacks.

    What happened to Youklis? He came out of the game very early for Murphy.

    Never mind that there is no one in the Boston pen that can close like Papelbon, there are few in the game that can close like him. He was having an historic season. He's starting his career much the same way that Mo did, although Mo pitched his first season as a set up guy. Let's not forget that Mo had been a starter when he arrived in NY. After they saw him in the late innings, they would have done the rest of the league a favor if they had moved him back to starter. How history would have changed. Papelbon is not just a good closer or a very good closer. He's a lights out guy. They are really hard to find. If they can have him close for 10 years, it will make the managers life very easy. There is no guaranty that he will be anywhere as dominant as a starter.

    Maybe he'll hit, but when a hitter like Rice talks about how his stroke is too big I take that seriously. I think it will be very hard to be consistent with such a big stroke. Consistency is the hallmark of the major leaguer.

    Cano has classic hitters stroke. He has good size too so he's got some power. Pedroia is very small and his swing is big and wild. He makes contact, but he should be slapping the ball or hitting down on it. He's too small to be taking such a big swing. He needs to think like a #2 hitter and go to RF with the ball. He's got a lot of work to do on his stroke if he wants to be consistent at this level.

    Yankees win the season series 11-8. KC beat us 5 out of 6. If I were Yankee fans, I woiuldn't be too cocky about the playoffs.

    Another weak pop out with a man on third and less than two outs. Krapler up with two outs.

    Nice bunt, speed caused the rushed throw and everyone is safe. Followed by the short pop Sac Fly to Bernie. Bernie throws a twelve hopper to the plate. Sox take the lead.
