    Duh. What's your point? I am not predicting that Hinske will be on the team at the end of the year. I am also not predicting that he will play any OF. I am hoping that he will not play any OF.

    My point is that you have a pretty sucky team if you have to resort to playing Hinske in the OF. He's not the sole cause or even a major cause of the Red Sox finishing third. Him in the OF was the result of them being a 3rd place team. You don't find OF's like Hinske on winning teams. If he sees OF time in 2007, it wil be because we suck.

    Logic? Have you seen this guy play the OF? He looks like a tank on an Indy track. Numbers? He played OF on two teams in 2006. When he was on Toronto in 2006, they were a third place team. When he came to the Red Sox and played the OF for 15 games, they finished in 3rd place. Playing him in your OF is an act of desperation. He's not an OF ...period. It would be like the Yankees putting Jason Giambi in the OF. They are built alike except Hinske has a thicker neck. Erstad, on the other hand, is an OF and when healthy, he's a damn good OF. He has two gold gloves in the OF and one at 1B. Hinske is a butcher wherever he plays.

    Erstad on one leg is a better OF than Hinske. I know linebackers that play the OF better than Hisnke. If Hinske starts any games in the OF this year, the Red Sox are in big trouble.

    It's just a possibility. He's a platoon candidate at first and he can play the OF. Good fielder. He's better than Stinskie. He'd have to come cheap though.

    Before injuries robbed him of his legs, he was a better player than Youk's.

    If I had the answer, I'd have put it in my post. Just because I don't have the answer doesn't mean that there isn't a problem with this infield. It is weak offensively. If Youk continues to hit like he did in the second half of 2006 and Pedroia starts slow, the infield will be an offensive bust. It's up to Theo to figure out how to get a good stick at 1B. If he does that would make Youk expendable, and I think he is good trade bait right now. He will not be if he is exposed as a punch hitter with a slow bat.

    It wasn't just the error. It was the record-setting LOBs. One or two hits in those situations and game 6 would have been a blow out without going to extra innings.

    I don't reqally care about his kids or that he had to leave NY. I don't condone the behavior that drove him and his family from New England, but he such a f***ing weanie whiner that never was accountable for his horrendous World Series that I could give a s***. It wasn't just the error. I wanted to shoot him like a lame horse before the error, because of the LOBs which were record setting.

    I'm not saying that Erstad is great. He is a better fielder than Youk. Range factor aside, and has better range than Youk, he has insane hands and great footwork. He had much better speed than Youk before his injuries, but I don't know what he's got left in his legs. He can play the OF, including CF. Youk cannot. He's a known quantity with an 11 year major league resume. Youk, on the other hand, may only be the ballplayer that he was in the second half of last year, in which case Erstad would be a nice insurance policy.

    Unlike the singles hitting Youklis, Erstad is a great fielding first baseman and a pretty good back up in CF. He has more speed that Youkilis.
