  1. I forgot what a Theo fanboy you are. Who is pointing out his imperfections. It just doesn't mean much for him to say that a guy has the best stuff of anyone he's drafted. Also, I said I would move Bucholz and or Bowden for a current top of the rotation starter. Only a fool would not with good ML starting pitching being at a premium.
  2. I am listening on the radio so I don't know by how much he is missing. The reports on him are that he has good command. Five walks in 5 innings in his last start and 3 walks in 2 innings today are not not bearing that out.
  3. What's with the walks in his last two starts... big strike zones in Japan?
  4. Two-run single by Pedroia and a homer last night. Good time to get it going.
  5. Bruney is starting to look like a guy that was released by the Diamondbacks.
  6. I am not criticizing the kid. He's just doing his best. Theo's remark just means very little to me. It's not like he's been around for twenty years and drafted guys who became All Star starters. Besides most of what GM's say about their prospects is complimentary so as to inflate their reputations.
  7. I didn't know Papelbon, Beckett and Matsuzaka are 35. I like talented young major league ballplayers. Admittedly, I have little interest in following prospect-- most of whom will never make an impact with the Red Sox. Of the three guys in their 20"s that I like, only one of them came from the Red Sox system. I'd trade Bucholz and Bowden to get a front line established starter like Santana, Oswalt, Halladay, etc. To me that is a no brainer. Even if one of the kids becomes a star, we would be getting an All Star in return.
  8. None of whom have made it to the major league starting rotation, so it's not a high bar to cross.
  9. That Jackass Mazzilli was the first one to complain to the league in 2004 towards the end of the year when the Orioles were all but eliminated. Pesky got banned from the dugout for the rest of the season and pre-season. I was glad when Mazzilli got s***-canned by the Orioles and the Yankees.
  10. ...and it's not like we can bench him until he finds his swing. Mirabelli hit under .200 last season. Most of the season he was around .150. This spring he's at a blistering .121.
  11. Between our two catchers this spring, the higher BA is .121. That is ridiculous. We may have an automatic out in the lineup.
  12. Bucholz seems to be reprenting himself very well after 4 innings. He's throwing lots of quality strikes and he has given up no runs on 3 hits and at least 1 of those was a blooper. In the bottom of the 3rd, Youk showed his lack of 2nd to home speed on Manny's hit. That left the bases loaded and cost a run. In fairness to Youk, I did not see the hit, so I don't know if it was scorched and there was no chance for anyone to score.
  13. That remains to be seen, and if Pedroia doesn't hit, we gave up the best fielding Red Sox SS that I have seen in 40 years for nothing.
  14. Rasner took it on the chin pretty good tonight.
  15. It was good to see that Crisp got a couple of doubles and Pedroia got one too. Tek is hitting .103. That's just ridiculous. It's like he has gone blind. I am concerned about him, especially after last year. I remember Rich Gedman going from a .290 hitter to a .190 hitter in a very short period. I hope Tek has not fallen off a cliff.
  16. But you love living in a country where woman don't get stoned to death for not wearing a head and face covering in public, and where you don't have to worry about being beheaded for practicing your religion or not practicing any religion? If you do, you should be thankful for all the men and women who have served to protect this country. If you think there is no cause worthy enough to put your life on the line, then you have never lived under an oppressive government. You should be thankful for that too. BTW: As far as ORS using his military service to garner support for his baseball opinions, that's simply ridiculous. His baseball knowledge stands on its own. He takes it as good as he gives it out on these boards. He doesn't need anyone's help. Personally, I have disagreed with his opinion about many baseball issues, but the man knows baseball.
  17. I read that they held firm on the prospects not the money. THe Red Sox after the fact might have squawked about the money, but that is almost always a damage control BS story. They cried about the $ after they lost out on Abreu, and I had people on these and other boards believing the obviously planted cover story. They had no money for 1 year of Abreua, but they had $105 million for Dice K, a ridiculous 4 year deal for Drew, and a boat load for Lugo. The FO has plenty of money, plus HElton would have come at a steep discount from his current contract. Now we have two bags of s*** in the minors and a first baseman who on his best day can't carry Helton's jock.
  18. I'd feel much better with Drew in the 2nd hole and Helton in the 5th hole. I don't like Youk in the 2 slot. He k's too much and is too slow. He will kill lots of rallies with DPs.
  19. ...and neither of the two stud prospects (Hansen and MDC) that we refused to trade for Helton made the Roster.
