  1. Maybe Clemens has to go to their pen.
  2. Exactly. Roger will be pitching and I don't like our chances in a matchup against Wakefield or even Dice K (unless he cleans up his command). I'd rather have Clemens going for us in october against Rasner, Disalvo or Wright.
  3. At least I'd be blowin a HOFer and 300 game winner and not two guys that have a better chance of pumping gas when they leave baseball than going to the HOF.
  4. That's not much to brag about for the last 25 years. With pitching being the most important position, we haven't produced too many solid starters in the last 25 years.
  5. They most definitely will, but by the time someone from the 2007 draft is a starter on the ML team, only or two players will be left from the current roster.
  6. May we all live long enough to see any one drafted by the Red Sox in 2007 become a starting player for the big league team.
  7. I never said that. I said that Clemens would have been a welcome upgrade and would solidify the rotation. Instead he will be helping the arch-rivals, and we are left hoping that tavarez or lester can do the job. Don't be surprised if they can't.
  8. I was jesting back
  9. Put down the bong and slap yourself into consciousness.
  10. You really need to work on your pessimistic streak. I do agree with you that the absence of a reliable 5 th starter could have a deleterious effect on the rest of the staff especially when the hot weather moves in and there are few days off. If one of the 40 year olds were to hurt .. let's say an ankle or break a rib, it could have a disastrous effect.
  11. Good question. If Lester isn't ready, we had better keep our fingers crossed, hold our noses and ride it out with Tavarez. If Tavarez bombs, we will start parading to the mound one piece of garbage after another in the 5th slot until the bullpen wears down and starts getting injured, which will put a strain on the other starters. The staff will fall like dominoes in the dog days. It will be reminiscent of last year.
  12. I already paid for my tickets this season, so it would not have affected my pocket. Also, it's a one-year commitment for a billion dollar business. The additional $10 million amounts to little more than a rounding error in a businee of that size.
  13. You have stated this as an opinion where others have assumed it as fact. My point is that we'll never know, because they really did low-ball him by offering less than they offered last year. I never expected that.
  14. Wasn't the luxury tax argument made by the Red Sox last year when the Yankees snatched Abreu from them for a 1 year contract. Then the hypocrites went and committed $70 million / 5years to Drew. I guess that doesn't trip the luxury tax that Abreu would have tripped? I hear your argument, but it is not one the FO spinmeisters have the courage to make in light of their spending habits. Is it a bad business move for the Yankees if it helps them finish ahead of us and knocks us out of the playoffs? If it helped us knock the Yankees out of the playoffs and given us a shot at the Championship, it would be a bad business move? Do you have an intimate knowledge of the team's finances, because no one else does? Bottom line is that the Yankees made the smart baseball move for their team. That's all we know. You, as I, know nothing about their finances other than what they leak to the press, so shut up with your financial argument. It's nothing more than whining and sour grapes.
