  1. What an overpaid pussy! Are they afraid of ruining the 23 year veteran's psyche? What a pussy. He should be demanding the ball.
  2. Schilling, Wakefield and Beckett don't have two wins against the Yankees this year. I think Tavarez is doing much better than expected and in the big spots.
  3. You bact like Youk is in the same class as Helton. That will never happen.
  4. So, this rate of decline will continue at a consistent pace? I think injuries have had something to do with his so-called decline, and now that he is healthy, he is looking better than he has in two years. Has he permanently reversed an inevitable decline that comes with age? No, but is not continuing to decline at the same rate. He's 33. He's not a relic.
  5. He's one of the most genuine guys in the Sport. He's doesn't dish the usual BS for fan and media consumption. He just tells the truth. It's a business, and it could happen. I am sick of the "team disrespected me" crap from the players, and "the [new team] made me feel more wanted." I am sick of the FO saying that they "made a good faith offer" or that they didn't get a chance to counter offer. Let's get it out in the open. Our guys would stay if the Sox made competitve offers, and the team will not make competitive offers to those guys that they really don't want to keep. That's the whole truth.
  6. I appreciate the help. Until I get back home next week, I need you guys to pick me up.
  7. Rockies need to eat 30 to 40% of Helton's salary.
  8. Was my statement accurate? If this hold by the end of the year, the Drew signing will have been a huge mistake, becuase we will be stuck with Drew for 4 more years at $14million/year. We could have used that dough to make a run at Ichiro, Hunter or Andruw jones to play CF. I'm not saying that this will hold until the end of the year. It is just a snapshot. It's more useful than the prospect stats that I read on these boards all the time.
  9. Youk is an average player with little pop. First baseman don't usually last more than 4 or 5 years as starters.
  10. Helton is 5 1/2 years younger, and yes, in less than 5 1/2 Yeaqrs Youk will be lucky if he is hanging onto any team's bench. Helton is likely to still be a productive starter somewhere at that time. Really, Youk does n't deserve to be mentioned in the same sentence with Helton. Helton is one of the great hitters of his generation.
  11. Why would we want a guy who should end up with every record in the book? Why would we want that?
  12. Helton is a proven super star, not just a really good hitter. The guy is upper echelon. By the time Youklis is Heltons's age, he'll be lucky to be warming someone's bench.
  13. More than a quarter through the season and Trot Nixon is clearly outperforming the clearly overpaid J.D. Drew.
  14. Sell Youk high. Get Helton -- a true superstar. His Home-Away splits this year are looking good. OPS is pretty close Home and Away. Youk is a tough-nosed guy on a hot streak right now, but his talent level is very limited. By year's end he'll be hitting .270 and Helton will be whacking at a .320+ clip. Sell high. Sell now. Keep Tavarez, and throw in some bush leaguer.
  15. Hansack is a sack of s***. I'm not looking forward to seeing him on the mound any time soon.
  16. Thuuuuh Yankees Loooose!!! Thuuuuh Yankees Loooose!!! 10 game lead! :D
  17. Some kid took the chump deep.
  18. I am sure no one in the organization is thrilled to have Hansack and Gabbard pitching on consecutive days. Anything can happen, but there is good reason why Vegas will have the Sox as huge underdogs in the Gabbard game vs. Hudson. Beyond this weekend Tavarez and Hansack/Gabbard will each get two more starts. If they don't give us some quality starts, it could impact the bullpen.
  19. Hansack is pitching because Beckett has been DL'ed. Weather forecast shows 100% chance of rain tonight. It probably gets rained out, and the weather doesn't look too good for tomorrow either. Double headers will be straining the staff and the pen at a time when it needs some help with Beckett onnthe shelf.
  20. He apologized for the distraction. He did not apologize for cheating, and he did cheat.
