  1. Izzy Alacantara?
  2. My argument about Pedroia was that I disagreed with the FO not having a viable backup plan in ST if the kid bombed out. His tools-- speed, arm, power are still average to below average. I am glad the kid is hitting now. Hitting is the one aspect of the game that is the hardest for a scout to evaluate, because you can't tell how the kid will adjust to the ML pitching and vice versa. Speed, arm and power are much more easily judged. Let's see how this kid with average skills finishes the season with the bat before we start crowing about him being a star. If he becomes a star, well I'd just love to be wrong if that is the outcome.
  3. An ERA under 4.00 in the AL with over 200 innings pitched is pretty good. 7-8 K's/9 is good. A 4 to 1 K's to BB ratio is damn good too. Add to that the ability to win 15+ games in the #1 or 2 slot and he's worth $12-15 million for next year.
  4. He's not what he used to be, but a 15+ game winner with 200 k's is worth about $15 million. I didn't create the market, but that's about what they go for today.
  5. Jackson, you are sounding desperate.
  6. Thanks. It was a great day to come back.
  7. Should have kept Nixon on the cheap and let some other team deal with Drew's case of vaginosis.
  8. Thuuuuhhh Yankees Looooose!!!! Thuuuuhhh Yankees Looooose!!!!
  9. So, now I hear that Clemens will not face us or the White Sox, but will be ready to take on the fearsome Pirates. What a wuss! BTW: I am still loving the Randy Johnson and Sheffield trades... big time!
  10. Two errors and a brain lock by ARod. I came back at a great time.
  11. Gonzo has outperformed Lugo offensively. The Damon move has looked shrewd because even an injured Damon has outperformed both a healthy Crisp and a healthy Drew? Yes' date=' very shrewd indeed. Dice-K is a legit solid starter, but on this year's team he is firmly behind Schilling and Beckett. $100 million is a heckuva a lot to spend for a #3 starter, but I am glad they did. Continue on with your FO Ballwashing.
  12. Roger, go into Joe's office and tell him you want the ball on Sunday. If you do that, chances are that you'll be starting on Sunday. I think you are a huge wuss and you will start Monday against the ChiSox and you'll let Torre take the heat.
  13. Thanks again! I may have to sign over the trademark to you, because you are on a great streak.
  14. Okay, this is getting a bit bit scary. Everything is too perfect. We win a game where the key plays are a an unbelievable diving catch by Crisp with 2 outs and runners aboard, a stolen base by Youklis leading to the tying run, a couple of filthy innings by Piniero, and a HR by Pedroia off Gagne after a 12-pitch AB. You couldn't write the script for this game. Wow!
  15. Unlike the 2006 Tigers, inexperience will not cost these Red Sox. Injuries are what could derail their train.
  16. Who is looking to run Drew out of town. The way he is playing we are stuck with him for 5 years. Does it break some regulation on this board to evaluate the moves of the FO as the season goes along. If Nixon outperforms Drew this season, and we could have Nixon for $3 million as opposed to $70 million for 5 years, we would have had a lot of dough to throw at any one of the three available CF's that will be available this off-season- all of whom I like much better than Drew. Again, this is a snapshot look, and this will probably not be the case at the end of the season as will Youklis' .330+ BA.
