  1. Sell Youk high. Get Helton -- a true superstar. His Home-Away splits this year are looking good. OPS is pretty close Home and Away. Youk is a tough-nosed guy on a hot streak right now, but his talent level is very limited. By year's end he'll be hitting .270 and Helton will be whacking at a .320+ clip. Sell high. Sell now. Keep Tavarez, and throw in some bush leaguer.
  2. Hansack is a sack of s***. I'm not looking forward to seeing him on the mound any time soon.
  3. Thuuuuh Yankees Loooose!!! Thuuuuh Yankees Loooose!!! 10 game lead! :D
  4. Some kid took the chump deep.
  5. I am sure no one in the organization is thrilled to have Hansack and Gabbard pitching on consecutive days. Anything can happen, but there is good reason why Vegas will have the Sox as huge underdogs in the Gabbard game vs. Hudson. Beyond this weekend Tavarez and Hansack/Gabbard will each get two more starts. If they don't give us some quality starts, it could impact the bullpen.
  6. Hansack is pitching because Beckett has been DL'ed. Weather forecast shows 100% chance of rain tonight. It probably gets rained out, and the weather doesn't look too good for tomorrow either. Double headers will be straining the staff and the pen at a time when it needs some help with Beckett onnthe shelf.
  7. He apologized for the distraction. He did not apologize for cheating, and he did cheat.
  8. I don't like rolling out two bags of s*** (Hansack and Gabbar) in the next five days against tough teams. Hopefully, the Mets clean the Yankees clock and we don't lose ground. After that, we need Tavarez to keep coming up big to make up for the fact that we will have a parade of bums in the 5th slot until Beckett comes back.
  9. Hinske's catch was the #1 web gem on SportsCenter. It's amazing that the ball stayed in his glove. He never had it in the webbing of the glove. You can see the ball for the entire catch. It's amazing that it stuck in his glove on the dive and even more amazing that it didn't pop out when he made the high impact face-plant. If he misses the ball on that dive, that ball rattles around the corner and goes for an inside the park homer, because Hinske was in no condition to run after it. With regard to the pure shock value, this catch is reminiscent to me of Swoboda's catch in the '69 World Series. He was also a lummox in the OF, but far better than Hinske. He was not known for his great catches, but he made a completely improbable catch on a reckless full out dive.
  10. Screw Clemens. I always knew he was motivated completely by the bottom line. He said he wanted to go closer to home and he he wanted to go to a winner, so he went to Toronto, a worse team than Boston and further from Texas. He welched on his contract in Toronto with the excuse that he wanted to play for a winner. The truth was that Toronto was not willing to extend and renegotiate his contract up to $15 million/year. Steinbrenner got word to Clemens that he would meet the price, so he was traded for Wells who won 19 or 20 for the Jays (Clemens won 13-14 for the Yankees). When he was with the Yankees, he cashed a $10 million check that was an advance on 2004. Of course, with the $10 million in hand, he took every retirement gift handed to him and then signed in Houston to become the highest paid pitcher in the game at $17.5 million/year. Then he started playing partial years at a prorated salary that was the highest for any pitcher in the game. All of a sudden being close to home doesn't matter, so he goes to the Yankees who bid against themselves to get him. We offered $18 million. They offered $22 million at first, but felt compelled to increase the offer to $28 million. I would have rooted for him in the Boston uni even with full knowledge that he is a complete whore. Good riddance to him and I really don't care which hat he wears on his HOF plaque, because that will also be for sale.
  11. Despite tonight's heroics, I really hope that Hinske's fututre playing time is in the IF, and I hope there isn't another game where Hinske and Pena are at the OF corners.
  12. Where have all the Yankee fans gone. I guess they are trolls.
  13. Okajima is the surprise of the season so far. No one expected him to pitch like this, just like no one thought Papelbon would be the closer he was last year. I like these surprises.
  14. I can live with Lopez in the pen. I still like him better than Romero.
  15. Can Drew play RF the last two innings?
  16. If he keeps playing like this, I'll have to stop calling him Stinkskie.
  17. It drives me crazy when we get shut down by a bum like this Durbin.
  18. Curt battled a tough lineup without his best stuff. I hope they get him some runs this inning.
  19. Great catch by Hinske, but the big lummox knocked himself silly. Please get him back into the IF or the bench. He's not an OF.
  20. How can we not be tearing an ******* for Durbin. BTW: Hinske can't come in or go back on a ball. He should be an emergency OF.., He should only play the OF when everyone else has the plague.
  21. What kind of OF defense is this behind Schilling-- a CF and two linebackers? This is an embarrassment.
  22. Randy Johnson won his first game yesterday with a 1 hit 6 inning performance.
