  1. Game Ova! Sox win!
  2. What a stupid comedy of errors.
  3. Will Okajima stay in to face the lefty Lind and then go to Papelbon?
  4. Nice play by Pedroia on the first batter.
  5. Ortiz had his head up his ass on the bases.
  6. The conclusion in this third statement is logically inconsistent with the premises in your prior two statements. Just because comments are not positive does not make them counterproductive.
  7. We get it. You don't like Curt. Others of us like him, but you are picking the wrong battle to make him out as a bad guy. These comments are fairly innocuous, and very little of it is new and the portion that was new was not shocking or scandalous. To make this out as some sort of counterproductive distraction for the team is a little odd coming from a guy that wanted Bonds to come to Boston. Also, the whole "he's under contract to pitch so he should shut his mouth" argument is just ridiculous.
  8. I am not apologizing for him. His statements don't offend me nor do I think they we have any effect on team performance. He is clearly desiring to position himself as a sports commentator. I heard that he was being considered by one of the networks to provide commentary in the post season, but it was blocked by the Red Sox.
  9. Yes, he was drawing attention to himself. So, what? "Counterproductive" to what?
  10. His remarks don't need to benefit anybody. I think you are applying a double standard to Curt. Who else do we hold to a standard that not only must their remarks not be harmful, but they should benefit someone other than the speaker? I find nothing wrong with him promoting himself as a commentator for his next career.
  11. A "dimestore hooker"?
  12. I think the players are big boys. They've been asked all the Manny questions many times before. The answers will be the same as before. "We have to look forward." I see no possible harm that could come to the team from his comments. As for the distinction between being paid or not paid to give an opinion, I just don't get it. His baseball career is probably over. I am sure he is interested in pursuing a career as an announcer/analyst/commentator. He is trying to keep himself in the public eye and to create buzz for himself. There's absolutely nothing wrong with it.
  13. I think their position is that Schilling is not entitled to have an opinion on anything to do with sports, because he hasn't pitched all year.
  14. And Curt will not shy away from facing him down the next time Manny is in town. I remember when Manny pulled his work stoppage in 2005, there was footage of Schilling giving him a lecture in pregame workouts. It was clear that Manny was looking to get away from him. Right after that, Manny ratcheted up his rhetoric and he told management to "get me away from this guy." It's funny though, he didn't tell Schilling to his face to "buzz off." He's a very large loud intimidating man that few people will come back at.
  15. Welcome to TalSox.
  16. Nathan has blown quite a few games lately.
  17. I don't know if rest will help lowell's condition. When he went on the DL with the Oblique, he already had the bad hip. The rest didn't improve the hip.
  18. I apologize for stirring the pot earlier this evening, but once I get a couple of you going I just can't resist.
  19. If the Sox lose tomorrow, the Division will go to the Rays. If the Sox win tomorrow, it will still be tough. The Sox will have to take the lead over the weekend when Tampa will be playing 4 games against the Twins who will be playing for their lives. After that the Rays finish against the Orioles and Tigers.
  20. It looks like Masterson is spitting the bit tonight.
  21. Walk off win for the Rays coming up.
