  1. 4 laughing emoticons didn't give me away?
  2. The kid's a bust. He didn't impress me at all. I saw him at ST and he hit a come backer to the pitcher. Package him and a couple of other prospects for a good starting pitcher (maybe Halladay if Toronto drops from the race) at the trading deadline. Don't wait till he flops like Craig Hansen.:lol:
  3. But those who are stupid like manny will get caught.
  4. I'm not sure if this is progress. The lesson that cheaters will take from this is to be more careful about the source and documentation of PED purchases. There probably were quite a few calls to doctors regarding medical records and files after Manny got nailed. I think you can argue that there was more of an even playing field prior to this program. If you wanted to use, you did. Everyone had the same opportunity without worry of being penalized. Now, a player has to have more sophisticated knowledge of PEDs and a reliable, discreet supply chain. Only the smarter, better connected players will be able to cheat without fear of accountability. Maybe I am cynical, but I don't view this as progress. I think it is an elaborate farce.
  5. I feel like we are going around in a circle. The point of my post was that if he had purchased the drug on the black market without a prescription he would not have been suspended.
  6. It didn't show up on any test. That's the point of the article. He didn't test positive for any banned substance.
  7. Why bench him tonight? A RHP with a 7.62 ERA is taking the hill for Seattle. He could be just what the doctor ordered for Ortiz.
  8. Manny didn't test for a banned substance. He was banned because he had a prescription for HCG -- a banned substance-- and he did not have a therapeutic exemption. He was suspended for "just cause" based non "non-analytic evidence." If he had gotten the drug on the black market, he never would have been suspended. The prescription did him in. http://www.boston.com/sports/baseball/redsox/extras/extra_bases/
  9. He needs to be moved down in the order-- 6th or 7th. He's not showing any sign of snapping out of this. It has grip on him and leaving 12 men on base will not help his mental state.
  10. Nevermind moving Ortiz down in the lineup. They are going to need to take his shoelaces and belt after this game.
  11. I can hardly wait until he does the perp walk on the way to his sentencing. I hope it is in NY, because I plan on being at the courthouse steps to greet him. Hopefully, there will be a mug shot at some point. I'll try to get him to autograph it. I wonder how well his bullying personality will serve him in jail.
  12. I have always liked the Mets as the underdog to the Yankees in NYC.
  13. I have been at 3 of his starts including a gem against the Orioles. His stuff gets better with each start. He is pumping at 95 - 96 in the 1st inning. However, his command is very inconsistent from inning to inning. Hopefully, the consistent command will return. I am more concerned about Beckett. He blows up in the 4th or 5th inning around the 70 - 80 pitch mark in every game.
  14. Palmer owned us tonight. Tomorrow they get to face Santana instead of Saunders. That might be a break. Doesn't Saunders do pretty well agaisnt the Sox/
  15. You made my point. "On pace" at this juncture is not an inicator of how a team will finish. Thank you.
  16. It doesn't concern you that there isn't a single guy in the rotation who can make it to the 7th inning without blowing up? Not beckett, not Lester none of them except for the very reliable Wakefield. It concerns me. I'm not pushing any panic buttons, because this is a very good team due mainly to its superior bullpen, but the starting rotation needs to start doing its part or the bullpen will get wrecked. People are just getting way ahead of themselves talking about our awesome staff, when Smoltz isn't even pitching in a rehab assignment. Dice K looked like s*** when he was DL'ed. Wake is a puff-baller. beckett has shown no indication that he will return to 2007 form. I'm not pushing panic buttons at all, but some of you need to wake up. The starting rotation is not that great.
  17. Very meaningful. What was the record of the 2006 team at this juncture?
  18. Bad pitching has a way of catching up with a team unless you are the 2008 Phillies.
  19. Not his fault that he sucks.
