We do need a SS, and Lowrie cannot be relied upon to take the starting job in 2010. Where do they turn? What about the Ramirez on ChiSox? He'd be way cheaper than HanRam from a $ and trade perspective. I don't know much about the guy, but he has looked pretty good this weekend. He seems to have good range and a very strong arm.

If Beckett shits the bed with the HR ball today, I think they should give him an extra days rest or skip his next start. Texas is not going to catch us. They have to play the Angels 7 times and they are having time beating the O's. The Sox need to get Beckett right, and I think he could use a little rest.

He's not articulate. That's doesn't necessarily mean that he is stupid. He may indeed be stupid, but we can't judge that from the fact that he speaks poorly, which may explain why he avoided the press during his playing days. On another note, How have thing worked out with school?

Rice comes out with some doozies. He just said that with Beckett you just hope that "he'll remain health-free." That gave me a chuckle.

I was just checking the waiver wire in one of my Fantasy Leagues and I just noticed Pedro's stats: Year Team INN GS W L S K BBI HA ERA WHIP 2009 PHI 23.0 5 3 0 0 23 3 22 3.52 1.09 What jumped out at me was 23 k's and 3 walks. His 1.09 WHIP jumped out at me too. Lesser league or not, these are really nice numbers. Can he be consistent, which is always the issue with a post surgical pitcher. I still wonder why the FO chose to pay Smoltz $5.5 million when Pedro was one year further removed from surgery and he'd pitched well in the WBC. Pedro would have to have been a better mid-year replacement than Byrd. -
He's not even dominating in the minors. This guy is going to turn out to be a bust--- the worst financial debacle in Red Sox history.

Maybe he's sucking now because he has given up on the season. He's on the worst team in baseball. Motivation could be the issue. That could be a possibility. I don't think he lost his abilities in 3 weeks. He's still a better offensive player than AGon who looks like a blind man at the plate at times. -
He had some motivational issues when he was in the Red Sox organization. At the beginning of this season he was reportedly complaining openly in the clubhouse about being with the Marlins.

The Sox need to get Pedroia hitting. When he is slumping, they have a hard time scoring runs.
