  1. If we let the Yankees take him, we would have to provide another player to the Mets.
  2. Because it accomplishes nothing. It will do nothing to hurt the Red Sox chances. They'll pull him back and ship him to the Mets at a later date. What it does and why it is petty is that it will screw over Carter by forcing him to stay in an organization that has no plans for him, and time is running out on him. He's getting a little long in the tooth to be considered a prospect. If the Yanks had let the deal go through, he would have gone to his new team which is so depleted that it would have been likely that he would have seen some September major league playing time. They screwed him over big time.
  3. And this is why I hate the Yankees. What petty ********.
  4. I didn't say that's what i expected. What I really expected, was for him to have a few setbacks and not make it back until September if at all. That's what i expected, and the Sox would have been better off if his rehab had got derailed.
  5. I really didn't have big expectations, considering his age and arm surgery, but I didn't expect the level of suck that he gave us. He took Penny-suck to a new level. I wouldn't have been surprised if he had been a .500 picher with a low 5 ERA.
  6. Penny and Smoltz -- combined Salary $10.5 million 9 cheap wins and 13 losses. The combined ERA, WHIP and other stats are even more laughable. What a bargain!
  7. he had a rotation spot out of Spring Training. He didn't crack the rotation because of injuries.
  8. He would have been in the rotation whether or not those guys got hurt. What made the hurt worse was having to put Smoltz (the other low risk option) in the rotation at the same time.
  9. It would be a ballsy move if Cashman were to pick him up, and it could cost them their season. Maybe he'll view it as a low risk high reward move. I think we've all learned that is just a clever phrase for a broken down player picked from the dollar store bin. It's high risk if you need them to play an important role on your team.
  10. Maybe Lowrie so Tito can PH twice for the 9th spot.
  11. I forgot about him.
  12. He probably had almost no trade value, and until they signed Byrd, there were several weeks that they din't even have a warm body to take his spot in the rotation.
  13. I'd rather hand the ball to Byrd. I guess Penny will catch on with the Cardinals and go 7-0 down the stretch. All Red Sox wash outs seem to go to St. Louis and succeed, E.g. Piniero, Lugo, and Smoltz.
  14. Where's J_E? I didn't fight with him or insult him, so he left the GT?
  15. I didn't miss Penny one bit tonight. I wonder if he'll be backing up Tazawa tomorrow if things don't go well for Tazawa.
  16. No rust on Wakefield tonight. Nice job by VMart catching him, but he has to stop air mailing balls to center field.
  17. When Ortiz starts hitting a couple in a game, he's on a major roll.
  18. Papi saved Tito's ass as far as I'm concerned.
  19. More El presidente coming my way. Yeah sure, he's done!!! Over the Hill!! Slow bat!!!
  20. Last night Tito made all sorts of in game moves. Tonight he threw it into cruise control and he let the light hitting lefty Kotchman bat against the lefty reliever with a RISP for an insurance run, when he had the hot hitting right handed Lowell on the bench.
  21. VMart has airmailed a couple of throws this week.
