  1. Very encouraging outing by Buchholz as we approach the playoffs.
  2. he sucks. Banjo hitter that runs like he is carrying a piano on his back.
  3. He was a 4 pack a day man
  4. both ends of a doubleheader and without any sleep after a cross country flight on a an old prop plane.
  5. The Pricess and the Pea. Just another prima dona diva among today's players. He has the team record for injuries resulting from sleeping.
  6. And after Buchholz's terrible performance in 2008 he had ruined his value as a trading chip until he rehabilitated himself in AAA this season. Bowden is in a similar position, so I am not over-reacting. He has to prove himself just like Buchholz did. He's not going to get a rotation spot out of spring training no matter what he does. The one difference between Buchholz and Bowden is that Clay has much better pure stuff.
  7. I think he pitched only one game for the Sox in '08. I'm not advocating that he be traded. He pretty much wrecked his offseason trade value with his imitation of a pinata. They have to hope he bounces back in AAA. I hope that his putrid performance puts to rest the thought that he provides us with depth in the rotation.
  8. Yeah, I'm over-killing it, but I really was one of the lone voices that thought he had something left. There were times that I doubted he would pull out of it, but when I saw him up close one game in May, I could see that he could still whip the bat through the zone. His bat went through the zone as fast as anyone else on the team, but his timing and pitch recognition were horrible.
  9. Rangers are losing 7-0 to the Angels. The magic # will be 1 as of tomorrow.
  10. It's nice to see that Ortiz has been a consistent producer in the lineup since the first two months of the season. We need him to be a force in the playoffs. Lot's of people were ready to throw inthe towel on him. His bat speed always looked good to me, but his timing was so off that he was starting his swing when the ball was past him. It was very frustrating to watch him struggle for such an extended period. I really think that he had to fully recover from his wrist injury and regain mechanics that he lost while playing injured. It would be nice to see him come out of the box fast next spring. I made a couple of good calls on him during the season. I thought he would come out of his slump much earlier and hit 35+ HRs and lead the team in HRs. I wasn't too far off as he can still get to 30 HRs, and only Bay has more HRs and he has 35 HRs. http://www.talksox.com/forum/396320-post274.html I was pretty much dead on with this one. http://www.talksox.com/forum/459249-post111.html
  11. He is just showing nothing. He's been little more than a punching bag. We wouldn't even get much for him in a trade. If he breaks camp next season as the 5th starter, theteam will be in for a long disappointing season.
  12. A guy doesn't have to suck this bad for me to know that he is not ready for a rotation spot. This guy is quickly proving to me that he is not ready for a spot in the pen.
  13. I'm okay with the hat and the jersey.
  14. Gayer than a Tiger hat and jersey.
  15. I almost had a seizure seeing the title of this thread you sasdistic bastard!
  16. Get a grip. In the last 30 years, the Yanks have won 4 championships and the Red Sox have won 2. About 10% of this forum's membership is over age 30, and even less remember any championships prior to '96. In the last 10 years, the Yanks and the Red Sox each have won 2 World Championships. In the last 5 years the score is Red Sox 2 Yankees 0.
  17. Hopefully, we'll see them in the ALCS, unless they do their usual first round disappearing act.
  18. When I meet one I'll congratualte him or her, but I live in NY and I am yet to meet one.
  19. I .would not trust Bard in a big spot against the Yankees in the playoffs
  20. That's right.
  21. After hitting Pettitte in the foot, ARod still could have thrown Lowell out even after the second bobble.
