The Yankee announcers' analysis said it all. When a runner is coming to the plate, the one thing he notices is where the catcher is and whether he can see the plate. The whole plate was open and the catcher was on the first base side of the plate. Tex actually stepped over the plate to hammer the catcher. This was not a bang bang play where the catcher was blocking the plate or the baseline. Sorry, but this was egregiously dirty and the YES announcers called it the right way.
