    The Yankee announcers' analysis said it all. When a runner is coming to the plate, the one thing he notices is where the catcher is and whether he can see the plate. The whole plate was open and the catcher was on the first base side of the plate. Tex actually stepped over the plate to hammer the catcher. This was not a bang bang play where the catcher was blocking the plate or the baseline. Sorry, but this was egregiously dirty and the YES announcers called it the right way.

    You don't remember as much of the pre-Papelbon days as I do. He set the bar very high. The fact that he is not performing at that ungodly level doesn't mean that he is still not an extraordinary level. He is still better than anyone that I can remember in his prime.

    I notice that there is no commentary from the Yankee fans on this board -- probably because the play was so dirty.

    Scumbag move by that horseface ******* . He leveled the kid catcher even though he had the entire plate opened and the catcher was on the first base side of the plate. The kid got carried off the field. It was unnecessary and downright dirty, and to the credit of the YES crew, they are calling Tex on it big time.
