  1. Fill-ins are one thing, but they shouldn't be playing for weeks on end. BTW: I was joking about the clouds. I was hoping people would pick up on that. Beltre has been a disaster in every facet of the game so far.
  2. Minor league piece of trash. He had a good weekend and he owned the town. It will have to last him into old age, because it is over and baseball has no sentimentality. If you suck, you will be exploited no matter how heatwarming your story. They used to bunt on the war hero with the wooden leg. The game is ruthless. McDonald has no game. Get me a major league hitter. He was a temporary stop gap-- a game or two or three-- not a month. Dump him and get a real player. You are too sentimental, which is why you can't trade your stars in fantasy.
  3. Knocking Ellsbury out of action is another reason why Beltre has been a disaster.
  4. His biggest miscalculation was bringing in Beltre, who creates a terrible situation regarding the playing time for VMart, who now has to catch every day. He never should have gone for Cameron, Beltre and Scutaro. The $ saved should have gone to Holliday. This team with Holliday would be very competitive. Our OF is a joke. It is reminiscent of the Carl Everett days. When Everett got injured we had an OF of Daubach, Pride, and Frye. At least they were not the bottom three in the batting order.
  5. Getting rid of Lowell still wouldn't cure the problem that VMart has to catch too much. Beltre is not willing to be a part time player, so there will be no first base time for VMart. He is a terrible liability at catcher and too much catching affects his offense.
  6. Tampa wasn't as good last year. Price is coming into his own and lat year they had no closer. Also, back to Lowell. If you don't think he could handle 110 games at 3rd, he could have handled 90 or 80. Either way, it would have been better than the current imbalance. You are out on a limb on Beltre, but his performance aside, his existence on the roster screws things up, because VMart has to catch all the time. The Sox were never going to salary dump Lowell and Ortiz and eat $25 million. That's just unrealistic. They were going to keep one of them, thus causing the logjam.
  7. I don't see it. Why give up anything for a big lefty DH that K's a lot when we have one of those already. I'll take my chances with Ortiz rather than give up anthing of value for Dunn if he's going to DH. What about Nady? We don't have a productive RH stick in the OF.
  8. The most damaging part about the Beltre acquisition is the logjam and imbalance it creates in the IF. It almost eliminates any first base time for VMart forcing him to catch too many games, thus exposing him for the suckass catcher that he is. Without Beltre, Lowell could play a very oroductive 110 games at third without causing his hio to act up. Vmart could play 50 games at first with Youk moving across the diamond. Everyone would have consistent playing time, resulting in better productivity. The Beltre acquisition was not thought through very well.
  9. If we get Dunn, he'll have to play LF, because there is no room for him in the IF. I think we need a RH OF bat. What about Nady?
  10. Non-traditionalist crap. It reminds me of the stupid powder blue Phillies uniforms in the 80's-- a ridiculous fad that makes a mockery of the frabchise.
  11. He's making too many errors and other misplays not scored as errors. He has mad a few mental errors too. I'd rather have the guy with less range at 3B but with better hands and a much better baseball head.
  12. Warning them thatg Morales might swing 3-0 was stupid. He should have just walked him at that point. If I'm the pitcher, I don't throw the ball within a foot of the plate after seeing Girardi and Pena gesturing in the dugout. He hung the pitcher out to dry.
  13. I don't hang any of this on Francona. They gave him two complete total pieces of s*** in his pen. Schoendouche is a Met castoff. Nufsed. Atchinson is a complete nobody that could not make it in the US, so he had to go to Japan. He has 3 reliable arms in the pen, and he can't use them every night. They need to get him some better horses in the pen.
  14. Mauer with 5 hits today. The guy is a beast.
