  1. You are correct that my whining and complaining will not help the Sox situation , but it definitely does help the way I feel. If I keep it inside and don't express it, I feel worse. You are a chick. You should understand that. The rest of you are either stupid or you are avoiding the issue if this doesn't concern you. I mean seriously. We are going to roll out Bill Hall and Donald McDonald to play the OF for 5 games against the Yankees in the middle of May? Edit: VA, I would never call you stupid, so why doesn't this concern you?
  2. Of the three, David Ortiz is definitely finished even though he has far fewerABs than the other two.
  3. Will that help the feeling of dread and distress about the upcoming week?
  4. Cameron is just going to start running and Ellsbury's progress has been minimal at best. Great!
  5. What is the Phillies payroll?
  6. From today's Globe: It doesn't sound like the return of either is imminent. I guess we are going to play McDonald and Hall against the Angels and the Yankees. This doen't give me a good feeling. We need to at least break even in those games until Ellsbury and Cameron come back. It sounds like Cameron could still miss significant time. It's been a few days since we have had an update on whether it still hurts Ellsbury when he breathes.
  7. I hate him to the core. I wish he had gone swimming with his relatives in that electrified swimming pool of his. I still think that heshould be in jail for multiple counts of negligent homicide. I respect what he has done on the field, and I am sure he is no worse a person than anyone else, but while he is wearing those pinstripes my hatred for him runs white hot.
  8. So, his performance should track month by month what it has been in the past, and because April has been a historically good month, but now it is down, his performance should decline beginning this season? Is that what you are extrapolating from April? If so I completely disagree. If his offense declines, it will be because Citifield is a very tough park for power hitters. Although he only has 1 HR thus far, he has 3 triples. I've seen him leg out two of them in person, and I can report that he is running just fine. His legs looked plenty healthy when he made a running diving catch. He still busts it down to first base very quickly. The only guy on the Red Sox who is clearly faster than him is Ellsbury. Ikd have to see clocked times to convince me that anyone else is faster than him. I go to lots of games, and when I saw him play I was surprised at how well he runs.
  9. ... And will Ellsbury and Cameron be back for that stretch? It's not looking good, and if they are back how will their timing at the plate be. How long do they roll out Hall and McDonald without making a move. If those guys do not come back until the end of May, the pitching (bull pen included) is going to have to be lights out to keep the team close. A guy like McDonald is a stopgap option for a few games or at most a week or two. He's not a guy who should be in the lineup for a month or six weeks, especially if he is in the lineup at the same time as another fill in like Hall,
  10. I've seen some special teams dig themselves an early hole due to injuries and other unforeseen stuff and not be able to climb out of the hole to catch a strong opponent. The 1976 team comes to mind. That team was loaded. There were 4 future hall of famers on that team that were still very good, and they had several other players who were very very close to hall of fame caliber. Maybe some of them will still get in. That team dug itself an early hole behind the Yankees that it couldn't climb out. Man for man, that team was much better than this years team. On the bright side, the team has played tough and eked out a number of close games and some lucky wins. They need to stay close until everyone is back and healthy and the better weather warms up a few bats.
  11. Didn't Rooney get an Ambassadorship from the Obama Administration? Maybe he can get the Pirates some stimulus money.
  12. These are games that they have to win, however, when they are slumping and so banged up, it's not easy. They need to not let too much distance grow between them and the Yanks and Tampa. Being able to win games when they are rolling out trash cans the likes of McDonald and Hall is huge.
  13. Francona using two pinch hitters in the same game. Shocking!
