  1. You are not giving me much to look forward to.
  2. And hopefully, they are cheaper than $20 million/year and can pitch to an ERA under 5.
  3. Porcello is done. Three of his Five seasons with the Red Sox were horrendous. I don't think he will get any better with all these innings under his belt.
  4. Maybe he can bring Kimbrel with him.
  5. This team basically quit after the trading deadline passed. Mookie hinted that the clubhouse was unhappy that no reinforcements would be coming. And I thought that was a shocking revelation. Players never say anything negative after the trading deadline. Let's face it, the team has looked dead since then, and the one aspect of the team that had been performing -- the hitting-- fell from 1st in run production to 4th place. That is a huge drop. It was like a stone dropping. The Yankees have scored around 100 more runs than the Red Sox since July 31st. That is incredible. Falling down to 4th from 1st in around 5 or 6 weeks is a precipitous drop. The radio announcers were talking about the precipitous drop last week. To me, it is indicative of a team that quit. For that Cora should be fired. Pitching injuries and AAAA bullpen were not his fault, but a team that quits is on him. He needs to go and so does his entire coaching staff.
  6. I wasn't asking about society. I was asking about professional athletes, specifically baseball. It certainly seems more prevalent with baseball players today. I understand that media is more pervasive, but Bosoxmal and some others may remember that the Boston media was always tough on Boston athletes. Ted Williams was criticized for many things in his personal life. There was no way that the Boston media would have let him or any Red Sox player slide for a Domestic Violence arrest.
  7. Theo is overrated.
  8. Here's my inferior quality video of Yaz throwing out the first pitch to his grandson. https://youtu.be/5jy3crJ2Vsc
  9. Thanks. Could you leave open that gamethread until I can upload the video.
  10. and his ERA was climbing as the league saw more of him. I could live with him as a 4th or 5th option. I could also live with him being hauled away on the garbage truck.
  11. I am optimistic that Sale will return healthy and well-rested and that Price will get that cyst in his wrist fixed and EROd will build on 2019. We need to say goodbye to Porcello. Some people loved his deal, but 3 of his 5 years under contract were atrocious. And now l, he is done. They need to pick up 1 rotation piece and at least one other serviceable healthy starter for depth.
  12. The whole pen except Workman and possibly Barnes suck. We need 2 trucks to haul away all of the garbage that we have in the bullpen.
  13. Another excruciating game watching a parade of bullpen pigs. It sucks.
  14. It takes a lot to turn me off from watching baseball, but these last 2 weeks of watching a parade of bullpen pigs after the 2nd or 3rd inning has turned me off completely. I wish they had already implemented the rule limiting the September rosters. It has been a torture to watch.
  15. I have tried to upload my video of the first pitch ceremony with Yaz and his grandson, but I get an error message. Can anyone help me with that?
  16. This is a big blow to the Yankees. It is messed up that so many players do this? Does this happen more today than it did 20 or 30 years ago or does it just seem that way?
  17. As I was leaving the ballpark last night, I passed the Ted Williams Museum table where they were selling/auctioning memorabilia. Since there were lots of Giant fans in the house, there was a lot of Giants memorabilia. I thought this one was interesting.
  18. I came to the game to see Yaz throw the ceremonial first pitch to his grandson, Mike. I can’t imagine how emotional it must have been for him, because it was very emotional for me. I will try to post my poor quality video later. I did have some unexpected enjoyment tonight that I would put in the category of “you've got to be s***ing me”. A woman and her college aged daughter are sitting next to me wearing orange Panda Hats. I asked them if they are Giants fans and they said yes and they confirmed that they are wearing Panda Hats. LOL! I had never seen one at Fenway when he was with the Red Sox.
  19. He will be there tomorrow night. Carl Yaz has always been reclusive, especially in retirement.
  20. That was great to see!! Yaz with a Home Run to CF at Fenway.
  21. Carl, Mike Yastrzemski reunite at Fenway Park WWW.MLB.COM BOSTON -- Mike Yastrzemski stepped up to the plate at Fenway Park where his grandfather, Carl, had belted 237 homers over his 23-year historic career. Amid the loud ovations in the stands, a fan repeatedly yelled out to the Giants’ leadoff batter, “Hit a home run! Hit a home run!”
  22. I guess you missed the whole tongue in cheek aspect of that episode. It’s funny how people remember things.
