    Not true. After the trading deadline they went on a scorching hot streak that carried them through to the end of the season. They were clearly the hottest and superior team at the start of the playoffs. That is why being down 3-0 to the Yankees was such a shock. The Red Sox were favored going into the ALCS and they were favored in each of the last 4 games. They were the better team that season.

    He's not going in. Not a chance. Howard was a great defensive catcher and he won an MVP and he didn't make the Hall. He was on 9 All Star teams. Munson was far better than Posada and he is not in the Hall. Posada doesn't have a chance at being even borderline.

    Posada used to get in Manny's face for not playing the game right when he would hot dog it after homering, etc. At least Manny was a great player. Posada couldn't carry his jock, and now he has shown himself to be every bit the punk that Manny ever was.

    At age 26 (Salty's age), Posada had become the Yankees' full time catcher and he had a pretty good season. We'll see how Salty ends up this year.

    An off year with the bat for Posada would be a career year for Salty. Edit: And it has nothing to do with "not liking". Salty just stinks.

    He's not walking away from all that $ left on his contract. He probably wants some catching time, and maybe he'll get it, or maybe he'll seek his release. It would be great if he got released, and the Red Sox signed him for the minimum and he shared the catcher position with Varitek.
