  1. I am having trouble accessing the site. Let's get 5 innings in quickly. Swing at the first pitch the next 2 innings.
  2. Crawford sucks!!! I got him for my Fantasy team just in time for him to get hot.
  3. With the bad weather forecast in Detroit, let's hope they get in 5 innings and don't waste this offensive performance.
  4. Lowrie is hitting. Pedroia is lucky that he ahs been back in the lineup. With the way he has been hitting, he could have been Wally Pipped.
  5. That's a huge blow. Maybe now that Salty is on a HR tear (homnering in 4 of his last 6 games) we can trade him to SF for a bullpen arm and we can sign Bengie Molina.
  6. Does this mean that I can't say that Carl Crawford is better than Rey Ordonez or Alezx Cora, if those comparisons are made?
  7. When the shoe is on the other foot, you don't like it. Remember that you had accused me of applying different standards according to whether I like or dislike players. That's just not true. "Fanboyism"? Lol!! You usually accuse me of being a cranky old curmudgeon. You can't have it both ways as you would say. I fully realize that Crawford has problems against lefties, but IMO they are not severe enough to make him into a platoon player. Ortiz was terrible the last two seasons against lefties and i didn't think he should be platooned either. I am not refusing to see his weakness, but I am not willing to equate his hitting against lefties to Rey Ordonez. I think that's an overstatement.
  8. I actually see a lot of merit in the argument that Crawford should hit 6th on the grounds that his speed can be better utilized stealing bases in front of the singles hitters at the bottom of the order instead of in front of big bangers like AGon, Youk and Ortiz who can drive guys in from first base.
  9. Keep in mind that for most of Drew's career he sat out against most (and the toughest) lefties. His ratio of ABs against righties vs. lefties is much higher than Crawford's ratio. Crawford has been answering the bell everyday for his entire career against every lefty, even the tough ones. If Drew had faced more lefties his OPS no doubt would have suffered and if Crawford had sat against the tougher lefties, his OPS would have improved. I appreciate players that go to the post every day, because I believe that any lineup with Carl Crawford is better than the same lineup without him. Going to the post every day is not always in the best interests of the individual's statistics, but it is in the best interests of the team IMO.
  10. I never thought about his pattern of clogging things.
  11. He's limping? Given his past history, this could take a minimum of two weeks.
  12. Yet, Crawford at age 29 has 100 more hits than the 35 year old Drew.
  13. What Sox players do I not like? I like them all. Some are great, some good and some are not so good. I've seen a lot of Crawford over the last 7 years, and he is a very good player with excellent skills. You can dispute that if you like, but that's my assessment. He's right in the middle of his prime, so I expect to see some great things from him. As for using Dice K as an example of a player that I don't "like". I find it very frustrating to watch him pitch. Don't you? I am pretty sure Tito finds it frustrating too. It has nothing to do with "like". I'd like for him to be better, and I have been hoping for him to be better for 5 years, but it doesn't look like that will happen. I certainly did not throw dirt on Dice K after his first 2 months with the Sox like you are doing with Crawford. I didn't view Dice K as a bust until some time last season.
  14. :lol:Don't scare people like that. Crawford is no Lugo. Crawford's accomplishments are significant yet unheralded. People don't realize that he has more hits at the same age than Derek Jeter had. He also has more career stolen bases than all active players except Juan Pierre who is 5 years older.
  15. I've enjoyed his walk off hits, his ability to score from first when few major leaguers could, his ability to steal bases with ease, and his ability to chase balls down in the OF that neither Bay nor Werth would have a prayer of getting to. Yes, I am enjoying watching him perform, especially knowing how much better he can play. Have you not watched this guy wreck our team the last several years while on Tampa?
  16. It doesn't seem like a positive statement about the country. As far as your "nationalistic rant" remark, that is so far off base. I believe in less government, not more. I have little trust of governments that wield too much power, but I do believe the communities of Americans across this land are good and just. That is America, not the governmental entity. That is not a nationalistic sentiment in any way.
  17. That's about the size of it. Theo got a boner for the Japanese "national treasure" (his words not mine) and all it turned out to be was a big loss to write off.
  18. It a shame that you can't enjoy watching one of the games premier talents who is playing for your favorite team.
  19. Yes, Crawford sucks. And Pedroia has been scorching hot at the top of the lineup.
  20. You always have to get around to insulting the whole country. Of course, sports fans in other countries are so sophisticated and mature. They never would have riots at stadiums, nor would they kill officials of sporting events or participants. America sucks. You really should take up residence elsewhere if America annoys you so much.
  21. I fail to see how they will benefit from a marketing presence in Japan at all, never mind beyond Dice K's contract. The posting fee purchased no exclusive or shared right to market in Japan. The $52 million posting fee purchased a limited window to exclusively negotiate with Dice K. The other $52 million purchased Dice K's services. None of the investment purchased any right to market in Japan. The Red Sox have no more rights to market in Japan than any other team. They paid $104 million for essentially nothing.
  22. That's right that there is no verifiable figure for revenue for Japan attributable to Dice K. Anything that anyone says in this regard has no credibility. Until there is a statement from the Sox about revenue from Japan, no one knows. If they were recouping the $102 million, I think the Sox would be crowing about it so they wouldn't look so foolish for signing this guy.
