  1. Romero is just mowing us down.
  2. My recollection is that Francona said that only the training staff knew about the pain killers.
  3. So should the barometer for whether the Sox have good players in RF, SS and C always be a comparison to the crew that was part of the worst September collapse in baseball history?
  4. That's always been the issue with Lester. Romero's pitch count is perfect.
  5. Leaking that type of personal and medical information is despicable and legally actionable. It doesn't matter whether it was a cause of the collapse, because he already paid the price by getting fired. It's not like the situation needs to be addressed. It has been addressed, he got fired. The leak was meant to smear him in a very underhanded way. It was despicable, and John Henry is a huge jackass if he can't understand what Francona is upset about.
  6. The leak came from the Red Sox organization. They are the only ones that had knowledge of the situation. The article clearly stated that people in the organization were questioning whether the painkillers were affecting his abilities. Unless Terry dropped a dime on himself, someone working for the Red Sox was the source of the story.
  7. The only trend that I have noticed is that we suck on the road. Our starting pitching has a 7+ ERA. As a group, they are in Lackey-land. Let's hope Fenway gets them going.
  8. Although heading soccer balls has been proven to cause brain damage.
  9. There are other ways to root out a source than to ask the journalist. It seems that Francona thinks the Sox made no effort. Did the Sox check the phone records of their employees to see who had contact with the writer? Did they check online calendars for meeting entries? Did they do any internal investigation? If they had, but come up empty, I am sure Tito would feel better knowing that they had tried.
  10. It's a shame that this ownership always ends things so poorly when people leave the organization. Francona did not deserve to have such personal medical information leaked to the press. It was a despicable accusation, and the FO should have rooted out the source of the story.
  11. Here's something I got from watching Bard's starts in Spring Training. Even in his good outings, he'd have an inning where he'd just blow up. He'd lose the plate and his command. After his last Spring start, he said it was the first time that he felt like a starter and not like a reliever pitching multiple innings. I took from his performances and that statement that he had trouble maintaining focus for longer than a couple of innings. I was talking about this focus issue with a friend of mine yesterday. If you watched the game yesterday on NESN, Bard mentioned the focus issue as a challenge. The good news is that yesterday he made a lot of progress in that he looked more focused than in any of his spring starts and he threw strikes all night long. He still gave up 5 runs, but I think this was a significant step forward.
  12. Netalfi Feliz had a nice debut as a starter going 7 shutout innings.
  13. I root for him as much as any of our players, but I expect him to be adequate at best tending more toward stinking-- like last season. I think we would be much better of with Lavarnway at catcher. The kid crushes the ball.
  14. Bard didn't look bad. He was certainly good enough to earn another start, but let's face it 5 runs in 5+ innings is not very good. If the state of the bullpen remains poor, he may be much more valuable in the pen. That lefty kid needs to go, so does Albers. Bowden probably needs to go too. They need to bring in a couple of good bullpen arms soon, or they will be forced to put Bard back in the pen and promote Cookm. When is Cook's next start?
  15. This guy is 30 and he is having all sorts of physical issues? What the hell!
  16. Unlike fans who bail early on the games.
  17. Youk will regain his timing and balance. He's healthy. That's the main thing. Salty just sucks. He swings and misses all the time. What a value pickup by Theo!! He had a boner for the guy for years. Now, Theo is in Chicago and Salty is f***ing us. They need to get Lavrnway a crash course in catching and get his ass to Fenway real fast. Cut Salty. At least Shoppach can play D and throw and he can get hit by pitches like crazy.
  18. This kid goes as soon as Crawford comes back if not sooner. Albers should follow him out the door.
  19. He left the kid in and waved the white flag. f*** this.
  20. This should be Mike Gonzalez, not this kid.
  21. That blew. Youk's balance is still off at the plate. He lunged at that... never had a chance.
  22. Wow, quick hook by Farrell. Tito wouldn't even have a guy warming up yet.
