  1. I view it as motivation. Negative motivation can be just as motivating, maybe moreso with highly motivated people. If you tell a highly motivated person that they can't do something, they will get it done faster and better than if you pat them on the back. Yes, I think this will work.
  2. I don't think this will cause any problem. Youk is a tremendously motivated player. In my experience in coaching, I found that a well cast barb in the direction of the more highly motivated players (and workers for that matter), could help focus them more and push them to a new level, if for no other reason than to prove the coach wrong. That's where I see this going. BV said this to jump start Youk. We'll see if it works. If Youk doesn't like it, WTF is he gonna do about it.
  3. That's right. Joba is not white trash. He's red trash.
  4. I don't think he will ever be MLB ready.
  5. If Ells was going to be out for the entire seasin, getting Bay would be a decent option. The Mets would have to eat a lot of salary. However, if Ells is coming back, he really doesn't have a place to play. Crawford will be in LF, and Bay would not bee very good in RF.
  6. Ross is a very useful platoon player, but not a full time player. Fenway may help him to be a better full time player, but he is not very good against RHP. Sweeney has been a very pleasant surprise. Fenway may really help him, because he seems to like to take the ball the other way. I don't know about him having speed. He doesn't look very fast to me. He's a big guy, and sometimes those big boys don't seem to be going fast but their long strides are eating up turf. DMac is still a AAAA player. We could use an OFer to get us through Ells absence. Right now Ortiz is on fire and carrying the team. When he cools off, the offense could go very flat. Nate Spears is not the answer.
  7. BTR and SFF, keep up the mojo tomorrow!
  8. I'm not a big fan of Spears. He doesn't have MLB tools. I don't get it.
  9. I think Bay could still hit at Fenway. I watch a lot of the Mets. He's swinging the bat well, but not getting results right now. He is still running well, and he is in top shape.
  10. David Ortiz still has plenty of batspeed and is still torturing LHP. He is carrying this offense right now. Doubront looked great, dominant early, but later they were all over his fastball. They were getting the fat part of the bat on his fastball. Padilla is looking great in Aceves old role. Aceves has more pitches than any other closer. Joe Maddon is out of his mind batting Keppinger behind Longoria. If any pitcehr lets Longo hurt them, their manager should trot to the mound and slap them in the face in front of all the fans. Lol!!!
  11. He's a very cool dude. I met him in Cooperstown outside of a baseball card show the weekend that Rice was inducted. He's about 90. He's a huge man. You don't see many guys his age that are that big. His mind is as sharp as a tack. He was cordial and outgoing. People were talking about the fact that it had been recealed that the Giants had been stealing signs in the last 2 months of 1951. He was pretty pissed about the situation. He said that he knew that they had been cheating but couldn't say anything about it for 50 yrs without evidence. Now that there was evidence, he was unloading. He said that the Giant had robbed his teammates and the fans of Brooklyn. It was obvious that the weight of that home run had finally been lifted from his shoulders after so many years. I felt good for him, because it had to have killed him knowing what he knew. Despite that, he had always been the most gracious loser you could ever meet.
  12. SFF at game mojo in effect today.
  13. BTR got up before noon or made the GT at 7 am before going to bed?
  14. I'm not a doctor, but I have separated my own shoulder and seen separations on others. If it was out of the socket when he left the field, he would have been in much more pain and you would have seen the deformity right through his jersey. He said that he felt something move. When the shoulder pops out, you know exactly what happened and you can explain it better than "something moved". Based on that alone, I don't think he fully dislocated it. Of course, he is a pampered princess, so he'll miss 8 weeks. Yaz might have missed the weekend. I hate today's overpaid pampered players. I lump them altogether, not singling out Ellsbury.
  15. We will have to wait for the combined SFF and a700 mojo.
  16. The O's are in first place. Who would've thunk it? If the O's have a good season that would be the Nats worst nightmare, but the O's should finish last... right?
  17. Winning is so much more fun.
  18. Is this one of the games that you purchased from me?
  19. It's a 1:00 game tomorrow. Try to get up before noon.
