  1. I was out of the room when I heard that AGon went from 1st to home, but I was surprised to hear that. I heard Gammons. Or someone else last year mention that some coaching could help Agon run better. I really had no idea how that could be done. How can you make someone faster? As for Atchinson, he is a useful 5th or 6th guy out of the pen. Unfortunately, he always gets caught in a numbers game, and if he has any options left, he'll be bouncing back and forth to Pawtuckett. Where did Aceves get the mid-90's heat? If we need a closer tonight, it might be Melancon, because Aceves has pitched back to back nights. I wonder if Padilla will be available tonight?
  2. Yes they did. Hopefully, Aceves can build on this.
  3. Nice win. They showed some balls tonight winning in the 9th inning on the road.
  4. 2 down. 1 more to go.
  5. Who will come in for the save?
  6. How do we feel about 4 innings of bullpen tonight?
  7. Darvish gave up 4 runs against the Mariners in his first inning of work.
  8. Ross is a good platoon player. He puts up very good numbers against LHP, but he is very streaky as a full time player. Don't expect an .800+ OPS from him on a full time basis, cause it ain't going to happen.
  9. Tough call. Albers is definitely terrifying. I haven't seen enough of Bowden to know if he is as terrifying as Albers.
  10. @ the high school kid lecturing people about how to be fans.
  11. The crack head manager was at fault. He should have sent Feliz back out after they regained the lead. Instead he sent out Darren Oliver. It was one of those moves where you just scream out "Oh, no!" if you are rooting for that team.
  12. Unless he gets extended like Cain did.
  13. There was a pretty deep pool of relievers available in the off season. Cherrington was unaware that the ChiSox were shopping Santos, and he ended up in Toronto. I think if you check the FA tracker and the trades, you will see lots of relievers better than Melancon.
  14. ^From TalkSox #1 troll.
  15. It may be a good thing that the staff is experiencing these problems so early on. It would be worse if Bard and Doubront had performed adequately as starters and the pen held together for most of the season, but encountered injuries etc after the All Star Break. Injuries that occur later in the season are harder to address, because several other teams will be trying to fortify themselves at that time. Let's face it, no team escapes injuries. It was unrealistic to think our staff wouldn't experience injuries. It is better that the crisis comes right out of the gate. The FO will have to address this if the pen continues to s*** on itself for another few games.
  16. Before the season started, it was obvious that our pitching was thin and that we had little room for injury under performance. Losing Papelbon and Bard from the pen was going to be a difficult adjustment even with a healthy Bailey. Losing Bailey for an extended period throws the pen into chaos and disarray. I have no idea whether anyone in the current pen can step up and be a reliable closer. It seems that Bobby V is already considering sending Bard to the closers role. If he doesn't have a very strong performance in his first start and the team doesn't win, he could be headed straight back to the pen.
  17. The Sox haven't won a championship without Manny. Whether or not he is a prick doesn't matter to me. Yes, we will agree to disagree.
  18. After Cook's minor league shutout today, I think he should be promoted ASAP.
