It felt damn good. Let me add that I am sick of interleague play. I am sick of a schedule that puts our best hitter on the bench, because the 2 leagues play by different rules. Enough already.

I am not saying that poduction stinks. It is pretty damn good, but 25 HRs is not worth $22 million/year for a first baseman. He is falling short of what people thought he would do at Fenway. There's no way I would have taken a bet at the beginning of last year that he would hit less than 35 HRs. This year I am willing to take SFF's sig bet if the HR amount is 35. I am not complaining about Gonzo. I love guys that hit .300 with .900 OPS. I am criticizing Theo for spending money the wrong way.

So much for Gonzo playing RF. f*** this stupid lineup, and f*** Theo for getting a guy that knocks our best hitter out of the lineup when we play in an NL park. *******! All the worst in Chicago, dumbbell! Oh that's right, he has the Cubbies in last place doing worse than last year. Poor Cubs fans. They should have hired Dan Duquette to build the team and brought Theo in later to take the credit.

To pay the a first baseman the kind of money paid to Gonzo, IMO he should be the best of the best. He is not. For half his price, I'll take Konerko and use the money saved on a higher premium position.

Expecting him to come back and be effective is unrealistic IMO. Never mind that he is rehabbing from injury, he hasn't been good for two yeas prior to his elbow injury.

His career OPS is closer to Dunn's that Texeira's. Not only doesn't he not compare to Pujols, but he doesn't come close to Miggy Cabrera, Fielder and Ortiz.

Wow!! I have to think he would be more crucial to the Red Sox' chances than for the Phillies. I'd love to add him. Who would hit the pen?

Make it 35 HR and I'll take the bet. Most of us expected that he would be a 35+ HR guy when we got him. Right now, we have a Paul Konerko type player for almost twice the price.

My comparison was based on career numbers. I should have been specific about that. Based on career numbers, he is closer to Adam Dunn than the others.

He hit 27 HRs last season and he has 2 so far this year. If he is going to be a 25 HR guy, he is not worth $154 million. Ortiz in his prime was putting up 25 HRs by the All Star break and he is still the better hitter of the two. First baseman that hit 25 bombs are not that hard to find. We expected him to be a 35+ HR guy in the class of Pujols, Miggy Cabrera and Fielder. Thus far, he is not.

Steroids did damage the statistical integrity of the game, but it wasn't just the players. The owners, management, the Commissioner and even the Press were complicit in the steroid era.

I don't know what act he is referring to, but he has been underperforming since last year's All Star Break-- 4 months.

At what point should we start taking the Orioles seriously? Their roster seems well balanced for the first time in a long time, and Showalter runs a tight ship. I think they will stay in the race longer than most people expect.
