  1. Sean McAdams is a sports writer for the Providence Journal. He has been covering the Red Sox for many years. He ha coordinated the Boston Red Sox Sports Writers annual awards dinner. I believe that has also subbed for Remy on Sox broadcasts on at least one occasion.
  2. We have no reason to believe that the Sox are a better team than the Nats after they swept us out of our house. They are built on young solid, if not spectacular, pitching throughout their rotation. They have young top talent all over the field, and they have a budding 19 old Super Star inHarper. That kid has tools and heart. Strasburg is on his way to being shutdown #1 stud pitcher. Injuries are not an excuse for the Sox. The Nats hav lost their big $ guy, Werth for most of the season. He was off to a much better start in 2012 than 2011. They just got Morse back-- arguably their best hitter in 2011. They lost their starting catcher for the season and they are without their closer, Storen until July. We have no argument to make here in favor of the Sox. None.
  3. It was some guy with a beard. I thought that was his name. He was on with Holley, Merloni et al. I give them such little credibility that I don't even know their names.
  4. I am sure that he is pissed, but the umps aren't the reason for losing 5 out of 6 on the homestand.
  5. As long as I can remember, the Sox always played better than .500 at home. For all the good that this ownership has brought us as fans, there has been some very negative stuff. It will be a first in my memory if we end up with a better road than home a record, and I don't know when they last played under .500 ball at home.
  6. Is that the one with Merloni and a host of others?
  7. The Nats didn't exactly get raped on the talent side of that trade. Tommy Milone is doing okay in the majors, but all of the minor league pitchers in the deal are doing pretty s***** this year. Extending Gio for $8 million a year for 5 yrs is a freaking steal.
  8. 1-5 on a home stand is brutal. I don't remember bad Red Sox teams doing that bad at home.
  9. When Pedroia doesn't hit, this team doesn't win. It's as simple as that. They were hot. He got hurt missed some games and came back ice cold. Trace back the reversal of fortune to his injury. He has always been the catalyst. The difference is that when he was surrounded by better players we definitely won when Pedey hit-- often it was a blowout. If he didn't hit, we often had enough from the other guys to get by. Now, with this thin lineup, we definitely lose when Pedroia doesn't hit. After a couple of good games, Gonzo has gone back to looking lost again. He did nothing Saturday or Sunday. His ABs were awful. Why didn't Bobby V. pinch hit Aviles for Punto to start the 9th inning? I was listening to a Boston Sports talks show yesterday and the hosts were in agreement that Aceves as closer has worked out better than anyone expected. Are they joking? We have to give up the delusion that he is a credible closer. He has an ERA over 5, and he is constantly losing or blowing games. I love him in the pen, but not in the closer's role.
  10. Money was sent via PayPal to the email address you provided. Congratulations!
  11. If Lworie got hit by a truck tomorrow, his number would hold up to make the trade favorable for theAstros. Melancon was a complete bust. He sucked in Spring Training, was so horrible when the seson started that he got sent down after 2 innings. Sure he is tearing up AAA, but there is no hint that he is going to be promoted any time soon. Everyone knew Lowrie could hit. He is a big time hitter for a middle infieder. He's also versatile in the IF. He has had injury problems, but they sold low on him.
  12. You wife sounds like a keeper.
  13. Here' my obeservatins from the game. I had avery good vantage point. A couple of things struck me about Dice K. It's been a while since I have seen him in person. Like the first time I saw him in Spring Training 2007, I was surprised at how small he is. However, he is in the best pysical condition of all his years with the Sox. Even in 2007, I was struck by the fact that he was a little pudgy guy. He is in excellent condition right now. As for his stuff, it looked crisp and sharp. Batters had a tough time with pitch recognition. His stuff was better thn I had expected as was his command. It was a pleasant surprise for me. We couldn't do a damn thing with Gio. He was sitting at 95-96 with his fastball. No one could sqauare him up. We made solid contact 3 times-- twice in the first two innings. We got two solid hits. I was thrilled when Johnson removed him. We had no chance against him. The Sox should have made a bigger push to trde for him in the off season. He is worth it. Plus the Nat's signed him for the next 5 years at $8million a year-- a f***ing steal. Nava mada a very good catch in the early innings going toward the LF line. He had a long run and caught it right by the line. WTF happened with the catcher on the passed ball in the second inning when Middlebrokks was batting? It like like the catcher turned to avoid the pitch and it nailed him good.
  14. I've been to Chicago only twice. It's a great city. I dobn't know if you eat red meat, but if you do enjoy it, you need to go to Lawry's Prime Rib. It is the best Prime Rib of anyplace that I have patronized, and I have been to all the top steak houses. If you go, I would recommend the Meat and Potato Martini. It is made with potato based vodka and olives stuffed with prime rib and horseradish. It's a unique and tasty drink.
  15. People will blame bad luck, injuries, etc., but it will never occur to them that the team isn't very good. There's no Papelbon to blame this year.
  16. Should we start counting long foul balls too. It's a one home run game for Gonzo, but he is swinging the bat much better.
  17. He"s a mess. They probably ruined him.
