  1. It is reminiscent of the mysterious broken back from a couple of seasons ago. It always concerned me that they never identified the cause of that injury.
  2. Some advice is in order. Increase the girlfriends and cut back on the cigs. The girls will make you go crazy, but you'll be healthier and have the stamina to run away.
  3. When a great professional like Omar Vizquel questions what the hell is going on with the running game, you no something is rotten. I watched a lot of Blue Jays games over the last couple of seasons, and as bad as our base running has been, it has not been close to stupidity that had gone on in Toronto in 2011 and 2012.
  4. When I was pitching softball, there were a couple of seasons where I had neck problems. I'd get a stiff neck and couldn't turn my head. A few times I got the area massaged before the game so I could play. Each time it would last a couple of days and go away. I am not equating anything here to Buchholz. It just seems that some anti inflammatory meds and a massage would have taken care of a stiff neck with a whole medical team and training staff at their disposal. I fear that there is something more going on-- hence the need for the MRI.
  5. He'll get the job next year in CF and he'll get to sink or swim. If we have a chance to make a deep run this year, I'd like to get a proven MLB stick that maybe can play LF next season too.
  6. Big thick guys like CC can break down dramatically fast. The guy has been some horse for years now. I think it is a bit premature to predict his demise. I still don't like seeing him on the bump.
  7. I agree. Also, I don't think there is a chance that we get Lee. I see him going to Texas again. I would look at adding a big bat. Nava is starting to come back to earth. Gomes could platoon with Victorino who needs to spell his aches and pains.
  8. Thanks for the numbers Bells!! I have been bashing Gardenhire for years. People would actually defend him. I guess they don't watch too many Yankee-Twins games. He will always find a way to lose in the late innings. It has gotten to the point where I do not watch those games anymore. I have said many times that watching the Yankees-Twins is like watching a bad movie over and over expecting the ending to change. It doesn't. There is no arguing with those numbers. They are disgraceful.
  9. That's good to hear. Who knew that a nap with your child could land you on the DL. What's next, eating dinner results in TJ surgery? Jeesh.
  10. It is getting concerning and the reports about his condition and the amount of time that he has missed just don't add up.
  11. I like that they are extending their lead over the other teams in the division. Very encouraging.
  12. I love Red Sox walk off homers. Second time for Gomes!!
  13. My boy? As opposed to you being my bitch.
  14. Why have you altered your identity?
  15. It might be a little disruptive to make the trade mid-season if it lands Napoli on the bench. I would love to see such a trade in the off season.
  16. I don't rip on guys when they are playing well. Salty has made a big improvement. I guess you don't watch much NL. Victorino is better than he has shown. The leg and back have hindered him. Uehara has been good everywhere he has been. Lester's first month and a half were a surprise. Pitching like last year wasn't very unexpected.
  17. I love Butler, but what happens with Napoli?
  18. With regard to Lackey, I think he is getting stronger. Look at what Wainwright has done after 2 TJ's. I never thought it would happen, but I think Lackey will be a big part of this team's success. This team is not just a surprise with a few good months. They are demonstrating that they a really good team. They need Buch back. That is essential. When you have a team that is a bona fide upper echelon team, I think you need to reinforce it and give them the best shot at going deep in the Post Season. Some prospects should be sacrificed. There aren't that many seasons when we are in this kind of a position. They are on on 98 or 99 win pace. This is not a bridge year. This could be the year. This is when you sacrifice some prospects-- not the top guys for rentals, but decent second tier guys. If Buch comes bach strong, I am not sure that our biggest need is for a pitching stud. Maybe a big bat would be a bigger help in the OF.
  19. This would be an appropriate time to discuss the biggest surprises and biggest disappointments on the 2013 team. It is a hugely pleasant surprise that we are leading the division and extending our lead a bit. I was just hoping for a competitive team, but I think they are more than that. Here's my list: Surprises: Lackey-- He tops my list. Coming off surgery, he is pitching as well as he ever has. Red Sox fans have not seen this Lackey. When right, this guy has been pretty good in his career. He keeps his team in games and he puts up innings Nava-- What can be said. I think he has surprised everyone with his power including his family Iglesias-- The surprise isn't that he is hitting .400. The surprise is that he looks like he belongs in a major league lineup Salty-- He has been more consistent on offense and his lapses behind the plate have been much fewer than the past. Carp-- The guy has a nice stroke and good power. Disappointments: Middlebrooks-- I was certain this guy was on his way to stardom and that he was going to form a formidable lefty/righty combo with Ortiz for the next couple of years. The 3 home run game early on made me think that I was aiming too low. Hanrahan-- A complete Jenks-type bust Bailey-- Got the closer's job on a silver platter when Hanrahan went down, but he squandered it in spectacular fashion. Buchholz having injury/durability issues
  20. Do you know if there are any fat old relievers with bad elbows that are available?
  21. i can't watch them play the Twins. Even when the Twins keep the game tight going into the late innings, Gardenhire gives away the game. It happens over and over.
