  1. The Yankee offense had been an embarrassing pop-gun, and Sorian has revived them and Reynolds will help with the HRs too. We could have used a RH hitter to slot in after Ortiz.
  2. We are playing like bums tonight.
  3. Reynolds kills us.
  4. Doubront has had very good success against the skanks. I hope that continues.
  5. He's not worth $13 million.
  6. It's convenient to blame the parents and a copout excuse for the kid. He is. Full-fledged adult man. He is fully responsible for his own miserable circumstances. My heart goes out to Remy, because as a father, I know that he must be in terrible pain right now and he must feel helpless.
  7. Bad kids are not always the result of poor parenting. I have seen families that have a couple or three great kids that grow up to solid citizens and one bad kid that is incorrigible. Kids are born with different personalities and we can mold them only to a certain extent. I have known some great people who have been put through hell by their kids problems. Jacko, control of kids is an illusion. I believe that dysfunctional parenting can ruin a child, but I have seen many people emerge from that situation and thrive. I think that it is far more difficult for a good parent to get a bad kid on a good track. Let's not condemn Jerry as a parent. We just don't know.
  8. At the beginning of the season, I had hoped that they would just be competitive. They have been much more than that. After being in first place all season and with the Yankees falling apart, it will be a huge disappointment if we don't win the division. We have won one division in 17 years. The last time that the Yankees fell apart (2008) we let the Rays steal the division from us. I don't want to see that happen again, because just like in 2009 we have to expect the Yankees to roaring back in 2014. If get a 1 game wild card playoff or miss the playoffs entirely, this will be a huge squander. It will leave a sour taste to what has been a surprisingly good season.
  9. David Ortiz will get challenged less and less down the stretch.
  10. September 2011 Redux?
  11. Opposing pitchers are just not going to let Ortiz beat them with the drop off after him.
  12. I realize that Ortiz is the tying run, but I would rush the mound and tackle my pitcher if he gave Ortiz anything to hit.
  13. Good job getting Peavy, but we need a consistent bat to protect Ortiz or he will see very few pitches to hit down the stretch. The guys behind him are a huge drop off in caliber.
  14. Reynolds wrecks our pitching, and he used to wreck Yankee pitching too.
  15. The Yankees also got Mark Reynolds? They have been getting a lot of HRs since theypicked up Soriano who has been red hot.
  16. Maybe the problem was the players, but a manager that they despised.
  17. The Dodgers have taken a lot of hits in this thread, but right now they look unstoppable. Also, the guys that we dumped on them (AGon, Punto, Crawford) have a higher WAR than our replacements at those positions.
  18. Victorino is the best OFer on the team. If Ellsbury leaves, he should be the CFer.
  19. 5 for Mo and 6 for Papelbon. The same highway.
  20. Yep, Zim burned out the entire team. In the playoff game he had to resort to playing pot-bellied Bob Bailey.
  21. I haven't seen anything very special about his hands or him catching the ball, but he has an absolute cannon of an arm and very accurate. He's better than Holt or Snyder by a mile.
  22. I know that the Red Sox are having a great season when they cause yankee fans to want to puke. Go Red Sox!
  23. or maybe he wants to stay in Boston but he will end up elsewhere, because he would be foolish not to maximize the best contractual opportunity of his career.
  24. If Napoli gets hot and puts up big power numbers down the stretch, they might re-sign him. If not, he's not worth $13 miilion/year. Carp could get a shot, maybe even Nava.
  25. Bailey has a surgically repaired elbow that was acting up before he had his shoulder surgically repaired. He is likely to end up on the junk heap of broken down pitchers.
