If we get 6 runs off CC, we have to win that game.
  2. a700hitter
That last pitch from CC shows why he has always been a big game pitcher, and Dempster's last batter shows why he disappears in big games.

Two years $26 millon and 6 runs of support is not enough for him. He always pitches to his run support, but the problem is that he always gives up more runs than he gets. But it isn't cool to rag on a guy that gives up 7 runs in less than 6 innings.
  4. a700hitter
The guy stinks in big games. The good news is if we get to the post season Dumpster will be buried in the bull pen.

Choking bum hands the ball to a rookie with 1 out and the bases loaded with a 2 run lead. He couldn't manage a pitch withing a foot of the zone to a stiff like Chris Stewart, but he fed ARoid a cookie.

That one missed by 2 feet. He's such a big game choking MFEr.
  7. a700hitter
Dempster is missing the zone by a foot tonight.
  8. a700hitter
Can this Dumpster pieced of garbage get 2 more outs without coughing up the lead?
  9. a700hitter
I am praying for 3 more outs and then go to the pen.
  10. a700hitter
    Dempster blows.

    Walks in a run.

    Take sign

Gomes is a useful platoon player, but he should not be our #5 hitter behind Ortiz.
  14. a700hitter
We need a good bat behind Ortiz.
  15. a700hitter
Ortiz is a beast. That ball was up and in on his hands.

    Middlebrooks crushes one!!
  17. a700hitter
Dempster is such a big game choker.
  18. a700hitter
He sucks and he could still be your hero in the clubhouse.
  19. a700hitter
I wish that Dempster had gotten thrown out of the game.

Currently and for quite some time-- David "Big papi" Ortiz

As I was purchasing my tickets from a scalper about an hour before the ceremony someone came up from behind me and grabbed me around the neck while screaming my last name. The thought that went through my mind immediately was that I was getting mugged by someone that knew me. LOL!! I turned around and it was a group of guys that went to high school with me. They were rabid Yankee fans and we were playing the Guardians. I argued baseball with these guys every day for 4 years. I asked them if they came up to heckle Yaz on his final weekend. They told me that they came up to pay tribute to him. They too had grown up with Yaz, but he was their honorable enemy while he was our hero. I thought that was nice of them.

    The telephoto lens helped. LOL!!

The Sox showed their fortitude and fight today. The Yankees helped them with shoddy defense, but the Sox seized the opportunity and Lackey pitched like a big game pitcher. They beat the Yankees best pitcher. David Ortiz still has that big game swagger.

Above are some of the photos that I found from Yaz Day in 1983. The camera that I used was a good camera, but not state of the art for 1983. I had the aperture readings wrong and it was an overcast day. Add that to the fact that I am not a very talented photographer and this is what you get. I tried to put them in chronological order. He came out of the dugout took a few waves and bows. He gave a speech and then he ran around the ballpark. I also was careful to get a picture of a budding star playing 3B that day --# 26 Wade Boggs. All in all, it was a very cool day. I will try my best to be there when they unveil the statue.
