  1. Opposing pitchers are just not going to let Ortiz beat them with the drop off after him.
  2. I realize that Ortiz is the tying run, but I would rush the mound and tackle my pitcher if he gave Ortiz anything to hit.
  3. Good job getting Peavy, but we need a consistent bat to protect Ortiz or he will see very few pitches to hit down the stretch. The guys behind him are a huge drop off in caliber.
  4. Reynolds wrecks our pitching, and he used to wreck Yankee pitching too.
  5. The Yankees also got Mark Reynolds? They have been getting a lot of HRs since theypicked up Soriano who has been red hot.
  6. Maybe the problem was the players, but a manager that they despised.
  7. The Dodgers have taken a lot of hits in this thread, but right now they look unstoppable. Also, the guys that we dumped on them (AGon, Punto, Crawford) have a higher WAR than our replacements at those positions.
  8. Victorino is the best OFer on the team. If Ellsbury leaves, he should be the CFer.
  9. 5 for Mo and 6 for Papelbon. The same highway.
  10. Yep, Zim burned out the entire team. In the playoff game he had to resort to playing pot-bellied Bob Bailey.
  11. I haven't seen anything very special about his hands or him catching the ball, but he has an absolute cannon of an arm and very accurate. He's better than Holt or Snyder by a mile.
  12. I know that the Red Sox are having a great season when they cause yankee fans to want to puke. Go Red Sox!
  13. or maybe he wants to stay in Boston but he will end up elsewhere, because he would be foolish not to maximize the best contractual opportunity of his career.
  14. If Napoli gets hot and puts up big power numbers down the stretch, they might re-sign him. If not, he's not worth $13 miilion/year. Carp could get a shot, maybe even Nava.
  15. Bailey has a surgically repaired elbow that was acting up before he had his shoulder surgically repaired. He is likely to end up on the junk heap of broken down pitchers.
  16. He's toast. His body is a train wreck.
  17. And Ben held himself accountable.
  18. There was plenty of reasonsand blame to go aroundfor 2012, and Ben is not exempt.
  19. I think the reasons for the worst season in 47 years are worth studying.
  20. It didn't offend me. I was just surprised that you were calling for Jon Sterling to be shot.
  21. 2012 is complete. There is nothing more to be known about 2012. 2013 is not complete.
  22. Good description. Is that what they call those fan like things that are put on the bat to cause wind resistance when taking practice swings?
  23. Yes the trade with the Dodgers was with an eye toward the 2013 season. It was not a 2012 move. It was essentially the blowing up of the 2012 mistakes.
  24. His bat looks extremely slow at times. Maybe he should try a lighter bat.
  25. To his credit, Ben was very critical of the decisions he made in building the 2012 team. The worst record in 47 years, deserves an F even if his mommy was grading him. He has righted the ship for 2013, but that doesn't mean that 2012 wasn't an utter failure.
